Easy to adjust tension
I've used about 5 of these spring hinges from a couple of different companies. They make great cheap door closers and work perfectly well for me. Some of the other brands are a little hard to adjust you have to tension spring and push a pin in. It's easy to lose the pin. The Stanley has a simple Allen wrench to adjust- no loose pin.I wish I could find the round corners spring hinges in Stanley brand but I can't seem to find them on Amazon.

Only took 1 and was an easy install
A lot of the spring hinges on amazon seem to have low ratings. I'm not sure why that is exactly but I found these hinges to be really easy to install. I used this to close the door going to my basement since my kid will be crawling soon. It is a hollow core 34" door. 1 spring hinge was plenty of power to close the door every time no matter how much I open the door. Very easy to add tension as well. was a perfect match for my 3.5" old hinge.

Should Have Replaced This Long Ago
I finally de-lazied and sorted through the on-line stuff to get one of these to exactly replace the old broken one. I don't modify something unless you just can't get the parts anymore. Old stuff is usually designed and built better anyway. Got lucky and found same size and manufacturer even if it doesn't match the fru-fru finish of the original. Yes, since the wood cutout and screw holes were already there, it was in place in less than a minute. This was on a heavy solid oak door between the fambly room and garage. I used one closer hinge at two clicks from zero. When you push down on the Allen wrench to un-tension the spring, hang on to the wrench! Anyway, even though I growed up in Iowa, it was the Wife Unit that had born-in-a-barn closing-the-door problems. Life is better now that the garage is not getting heating and cooling because SOMEbody left the door open,..... again.

Broke after installation
I used this to replace a 25 year-old hinge on a wooden screen door that had lost it's tension. After installing and adjusting the tension, I opened the door and heard a "pop" sound. The tension was lost and I could no longer adjust the hinge tension. I believe that the ratchet mechanism inside the hinge broke. I returned the hinge.

Excellent product
Very easy to install, screws holes are identical to old hinge. Adjustment is very simple using the included Allen wrench. Door closes nicely without slamming. Very satisfied with this product.

Perfect Solution!
I've been complaining about people leaving the door to the basement open for years. This hinge is the perfect solution! It was easy to install and adjust. And it allows the door to open a full 180 degrees. Wish I'd found this years ago!
