Very well built and easy to use!
I spent a lot of time attempting to locate a bike rack that will hold four adult bikes and was NOT a hanging version. Most high-end racks (with extension) are going to cost between $900 and $1,000. I purchased this one (as my kids are getting older and their bikes are now larger) to replace a Thule 4-bike rack system that I purchased four years ago.Long story short - this is an amazing rack. There is a Youtube video on the Amazon site that does a good job of showing how to put it together (as the instructions that were sent with this are simply not that good). It took me maybe 35 minutes to have it fully operational and on my vehicle. This is what I really liked about it:1) Very sturdy and adjustments available make it so that the bike rack doesn't sway or jiggle at all. If it does - then you are not doing it correctly.2) The PINS in the rack are all attached to the rack by little strings (so you don't lose anything) AND you know exactly where PINS should go.3) Easy to load four bikes in less than 4 minutes.Want I didn't like ....1) Adjusting the sliding cradles is a little difficult, but once you have them set for your four bikes - then all is good.2) Unloading and loading requires you to take off the sliding hooks - but not a major deal.Anyway - save $500 to $600 and buy this over higher end products.

Really enjoy this thing!
After 3-4 years of owning this, we still love it. With the removable rear 2 bike attachment we can go as just Mom & Dad, or take the kids too. Traveled from North-Central Indiana up into Michigan, down to Southern Indiana, over to Central Ohio with 2 bike and 4 bike set ups numerous times and still very happy. The bikes just don't move! Bikes with front & or rear suspension, you may want to press into suspension as you tighten down, but then you're set. Got a locking cable and can route through wheels and frames, through the carrier frame and everything is secure (except maybe seat and handle bars - OK a DETERMINED thief will cut the cable some way, but it'll take some doing). It can also adjust down out of the way if necessary for hatch opening on our crossover utility, or fold up when empty so careless drivers don't wipe it off the rear of your vehicle.Fast on; fast off; solid; flexible. Only thing is, you do need some room to store it when it's off the vehicle.

Battleship!
I have only had the Hollywood Racks HR1400 for a couple of weeks, however, based on what I know right now I am going to be extremely satisfied with this product. My first, and only, word of caution is that you must make sure that when you install the receiver tube into your hitch receiver that the hitch pin goes through the hitch tightening system within the receiver tube. Once you have the receiver tube on, the rest of the installation takes maybe 20 minutes. The majority of that time will be aligning the wheel holders to fit the bikes that you own. What I love is that this rack is versatile. You can put an adult bike and a kid's bike with training wheels on the rack in 2 bike mode, and off you go. You can put 16" or larger bikes on this rack, assuming that you have the seat of the smallest bikes in a position where the frame hooks can go over the seat. The velcro wheel holders appear to be sturdy and help to ensure that the bikes do not move. The fold up and tilt down actions were very easy to accomplish; much better for you and your car than a trunk mount rack. The 'no wobble' levers for the base unit and the 2 bike extension seem to be awesome. There is no 'play' in the connections and the rack seems to be secure. As previous reviews have stated, this rack is heavy. However, if you store it in two pieces there's no real issue dealing with the weight and length. For my money it does not look like you will be able to find a better quality product for the money that will allow you to take 1-4 bikes with you on any trip, safely and securely. Also, Hollywood Racks does everyone a solid by including a locking hitch pin AND a 9' locking bike cable. Both locks use the same keys (at least for mine) so you can carry one key and be able to lock/unlock the hitch pin and cable lock as needed.November 2012 Update:After making several long trips with this bike rack, I can re-affirm the 5 star rating.

Well Built and Wobble Free!
Very impressed, really good return on investment. I had researched a lot of other platform racks before purchasing this largely based on the price point. I can say that I am not disappointed at all.As long as you follow the instructions the build is pretty straight forward (I also watched a couple of videos). It is heavy, but that's a good thing, as it is well built and translates to being very stable when installed on the SUV. Have used both the 2 bike and 4 bike configurations and really like the ease of use. Tool-less mounting is great, flexibility to angle away from hatch is AWESOME! Don't even need to take the bikes off the rack when I want to open the hatch. It does take a bit of time to learn how to use and fit the bikes properly, but once you do it a few times you are good to go. Highly recommend if you need the 4 bike option.

impressed - super solid
just finished the 1st big trip with Hollywood Racks HR1400 Sport Rider on the back of the car and really impressed with the quality and innovation of the product.rock solid, no wobbles. easy to adjust. lockable. tiltable - what more do you want?took 2 adults bikes and 2 kid bikes on a long trip. bit of adjusting for the kids bikes to fit but once on there they were fine.had one moment pulling out of a gas station and the driveway was really steep. thought id struggle to clear the back but the bike platform clearance at the back was more than enough.Tilting is a bit heavy with 4 bikes loaded and i needed 2 people to do it. one to take the weight off the platform and the other to pull the pins at the front.Likes: - good ground clearance-fit 2 kids bikes (including a todler bike with training wheels)-twisting lever to tighten connections on hitch so theres no wobbledislikes: - heavywhole unit weighs about 40kgs and is pretty large to store, but i dont see any way around that. just an FYI

Great high quality rack. Heavy duty but weighty.
Very good rack. Heavy duty and solid. It is heavy and can be tough to lift. Really nice tightening mechanism removes the chance of rattling.Only issue was my daughters cruiser bike will not clamp down. Unfortunately the tubes on her bike are oval so adding a tube crossbar adapter is not possible so we resort to bungee cords for her bike. This would be an issue for any rack and her bike...

This is an excellent product and is well worth the cost
This is an excellent product and is well worth the cost. We have taken it on two road trips and it securely holds the bikes in place as you are traveling. Very secure, very easy to put the bikes on and take them off the rack. I would highly recommend this product.
