Gardening in Miniature: Create Your Own Tiny Living World

I'm a beginner miniature gardener and this book was perfect to get me started. The book covers subjects such as accessories, plants suitable for the garden, scale, patios and walkways, garden projects for the do-it-yourselfers, plant and garden care, and more. The photos are clear and lovely. I made a couple of trellises and arbors following the directions in the book, and they look right at home in my little gardens. Whether you are a beginner or a pro at miniature gardening, this book is a nice addition to your inspiration library.

This is so detailed yet easy and clear to follow the instructions. What I love is the attention to scale and how real it all looks in a photo. Especially the in-ground gardens. This appeals to me on so many levels, gardening, miniatures, creativity, beauty, etc. I could go on forever. Love it.

Great inspiration for everything in mini gardening! There are loads of photos in this treasure of a book. It is filled with everything from good advice to detailed how-to info. Janit Calvo shares her enthusiasm, vast knowledge and talent for miniature gardens and we are the fortunate recipients of her work and research. If you're only slightly interested in mini gardens, brace yourself. This is a great beginning to what can easily become an obsession.

What a cute little book!. The pictures in this book are so lovely and colorful that I have been using it as a coffee table book. Every one that visits our home picks it up and looks at it and comments on beautiful pictures and clever ideas, The photos have given me tons of ideas on what to put in my little gardens and also gives lots advice on scale, plants and lighting. However, this reference book does not give enough advice for beginners, it's not for children or moms looking to do a project with her kids. This would definitely be for some one with an adult or some one with a green thumb.

Miniature gardens, fairy gardens, railroad gardens – they are all about small space gardening to the point that even if you only have an outdoor balcony you can grow a tiny garden scene. Plant it, decorate it, and add characters to it, it’s all to scale of course, no matter what size garden you have! Janit Calvo takes you through the steps of creating your own tiny living world in this charming book. Every page is packed full of wonderful photographs and ideas, you could really get lost in this art form. My favorite garden in the book was the pond in the pot, but many of her created gardens intrigued me. If the bug of gardening in miniature hasn’t bitten you, this book will send you right over to the wee side, a place you will never regret going! This is a good book to get you started, or if you already have some under your belt, Calvo helps inspire you to create more.

This is a great book for young and old alike. The ideas are so original and fun. Our daughter loves to look through this book, then plan and make her gardens. They are so cute to see come to real life. It is fun finding all the small things you can use for these and turning other things into "garden" things. A really nice book.

This book got a great build up and a lot of hype prior to it's release, so after reading some reviews from her loyal followers my expectations were high. I was disappointed. This book was heavy on the photographs but a bit lite on new information. Anyone who is acquainted with the Two Green Thumbs web site already has seen most of what is contained in the book. This year there have been several books published on miniature and fairy gardening so there is a lot of information out there. This is a good book for beginners but nothing new for experienced miniature and fairy gardeners. Janit has a good eye for creating these gardens and they can easily be made from the pictures. I thought the plant choices given were limited. Overall, I enjoyed looking at the pictures, her step-by-step instructions were good for the beginner; content - again was good for the inexperienced, but I don't think I will be referring back to it. If you are new to miniature gardening this book will give you some good ideas on creating you own gardens.

This has so many ideas and cute pictures of fairy gardens. The book is easy to read. Highly recommend!

After seeing lots of miniature gardens on pin-interest, I thought that I would like to find out more. I chose this book and it is a lovely inspiring book, with many designs to whet your enthusiasm for this past time. The only down side is that being in the UK, this is American and it is hard to find some of the accessories here in the UK at a reasonable price. This has no reflection on the book as this is a lovely book to flick through time and time again and get inspired to create your own miniature world!

Ottima e approfondita guida sul giardinaggio in miniatura. Tratta tutti gli argomenti inerenti con passione ed in modo molto chiaro ed esauriente: la ritengo una guida insuperabile e di riferimento per il settore. Il linguaggio è alla portata anche di chi non conosce molto bene la lingua. Le foto sono molto belle e significative.

The organic dioramas that Calvo makes are just amazing. The fact that these tiny gardens have pefectly scaled living plants in them is truly captivating. It is so fun to imagine the people/fairies/creatures that would inhabit such places that it is a very inspiring book for writers or artists I would think. Calvo has had many years of experience doing this full time and it shows. I've been a fan for over 10 years and just love her work!

This book is a brilliant introduction to miniature gardening and an essential read both for beginners and for those who are still deciding if this;is the hobby for them.
