great air filter
very effective, quick to eliminate food odors. Timer is great, auto-on (always on) is very quiet, until it detects odor or any bad air, then it ramps up as needed. looks like there are plenty of affordable filters available.

Finally, clean air.
This product is the real deal. Worked great at eliminating smoke smell from cooking or outdoors. We have a sensitive smoke detector and this product has successfully stopped it from sounding off scaring everyone in the house should we forget to turn on the hood fan. No more grass smell or outside odors coming into the home. Easy to use and very functional. Love the economy mode saving electricity, and the option to switch to Hepa or Odor mode too. Easy to move from room to room. I’m pleased with this product.

Quiet and functions very well
Update a week later: There was an update on the software this morning, and now everything is back to normal. Hopefully things stay this way. (+1 Star)Update 3 days later: I got a message today from this air purifier this morning saying the wifi is spotty, and I checked the app again. Lo and behold, I can control the air purifier again via app, although when I try to go to the home page and check the "product location outdoor air quality", I get a pop-up saying "There is a system error" and the display is "Unable to receive information, please try again". Still, I'm pretty happy to see the depletion % for the filters again, which honest is half the reason why I wanted wifi connection in the first place. (+1 Star)Update 1 week later: The wi-fi function has stopped working. This morning it became no longer connected, and no matter what I try, it will no longer connect to the wifi network. Sucks this functionality only worked for a week. Stuck on "Connecting to Wi-Fi. Please Wait", and then it tells me "Internet connection of the product is not complete" (-2 stars).Normal living generates unpleasant smells, and I typically have to open the windows every day or every other day to air out. Since getting this air purifier, I haven't felt the need to open the windows in over a week. I can't smell anything unpleasant, and at mode 1, I can't hear this thing at all. On mode 2, this is still quieter than my air conditioner, and mode 3 (the loudest), it's about the same as my air conditioner. Also no complaints about the wifi controls. (5 Stars)

Ok, Let's Clear The Air For A Moment.........
.........This Coway Air Purifier is outstanding, and I am not sure why it gets any bad reviews at all, unless someone just receives a bad unit from the factory (it happens, folks). Also, we have not had any of the bad "odors" that some people have complained about, either with the Coway air purifier itself, or with the replacement filters. However, the black colored model does look a lot like a large subwoofer, if that bothers anyone....lol. I did a LOT of research for an air purifier to replace the Bissell "My Air" air purifier that we had in our master bedroom, and this Coway air purifier kept coming up as a top pick everywhere. The Bissell "My Air" works well, but it's just too small to keep the air in our large master bedroom suite constantly clean, especially with our ever-shedding German Shepherd puppy always being in the bedroom with us at night. This Coway air purifier came well packed. It was double-boxed, and reinforced with cardboard packing material inside, and shrink-wrapped (no damage to the boxes or Coway unit at all). This Coway air purifier is very easy to setup. All that needs to be done is to open the front panel and unwrap the plastic around the charcoal and HEPA filters. Then replace the front cover, plug the unit in, and turn it on. Just don't forget to unwrap the filters before turning the unit on.This Coway air purifier is fairly quiet on the first 2 fan speed settings, but it gets pretty loud on the 3rd setting. However, the fan moves a LOT of air on the 3rd setting. The Auto and Eco modes are nice features, and they both seem to work well. We just keep the Coway air purifier in Auto, with the ionizer turned off, all of the time, as the ozone produced by the ionizer irritates my throat while sleeping with the unit on all night.I actually tested the dust sensor function in auto mode by shaking a dust rag in front of the Coway air purifier, and the fan speed ramped up from setting 1 to 3 for about 5 minutes, until the air was clean again, and then it went back to the 1st fan speed setting automatically. The dust sensor sensitivity is also adjustable by pressing the fan speed and ionizer buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds. Then use the fan speed button to adjust the 3 sensitivity levels (the unit is set to the middle "standard" setting at the factory). We have not had to change the dust sensor sensitivity level, as it seems to work well on the standard setting. Also, it is recommended that the dust sensor be cleaned with a cotton swab every 2 months. It is located behind the little door on the upper right of the unit. The large, bright power LED also indicates the dust particles ptesent in the room. Blue is clean air, purple is semi-dirty air, and red is really bad air quality. If the bright LED bothers anyone at night it can be turned off by holding down the ionizer button for 3 seconds. The 1,4, and 8 hour timer is a handy feature, if needed, but we never use it. We just run this Coway air purifier in Auto mode all of the time, and it works like a charm. It uses very little power (around 36 watts on high with the ionizer off), so I don't feel any need to constantly turn the unit on and off. The charcoal and HEPA filter indicator lights come on individually when it is time to change the appropriate filter, and the lights are reset by holding down the filter button for 3 seconds. The filter change timer can also be factory reset by holding down the filter change reset button for 2 seconds when neither of the filter change indicator lights are on (if the filters are changed early). The manufacturer recommends cleaning the washable mesh pre-filter every 2 weeks, changing the charcoal filter every 6 months, and changing the HEPA filter once a year. The charcoal and HEPA filters are NOT washable, and must be replaced. Only the mesh pre-filter is washable and reusable. I would take these filter cleaning/changing intervals with a grain of salt, and mileage may very, depending on the air quality in the individual home. I have seen many 3rd party companies that make the filters for this Coway air purifier. Most of them are much cheaper than the OEM Coway filters, and they have good reviews. However, we have only used the OEM Coway filters so far, and while being kinda over-priced, they work very well. Oh, and as previously mentioned, don't forget to clean the dust sensor every 2 months or sooner, as well. The rest of this Coway air purifier can be wiped down and vacuumed out as part of regular maintenance.Overall, this Coway brand is an excellent air purifier, and I highly recommend it, especially for anyone with allergies, asthma or pets in the house. It also filters cooking odors very well. Just keep in mind that this Coway air purifier is fairly large, so it needs plenty of room to function properly. Also, the shiny piano black model does attract finger prints like a magnet, if that bothers anyone. Oh, yeah, and as I previously mentioned, the black model looks a lot like like a large subwoofer. It is a unique design for an air purifier, to say the least. However, those minor "issues" should not detract anyone from purchasing this great Coway air purifier. Pick one up today!
