Oscar Niemeyer Buildings
Alan Weintraub and Alan Hess's, 11.5" x 11" coffee table book that chronicles in photo and text, themagnificent architecture of Brazil's iconic architect, Oscar Niemeyer, is truly worth adding to anyhome or library. A companion to Oscar Niemeyer Homes, Buildings, makes an impressive set that defines20th, mid-century and contemporary architecture in Brazil. Not unlike Frank Lloyd Wright in America,Le Corbuier, or Mies van der Rhohe in Europe, Oscar Niemeyer as the designer of Brasilia, and originof important architectural design and reference for Brazil.Lavish photography by Weintraub, fills the book with color images of Niemeyer's buildings in photographicrepresentations that pull no punches regarding the condition and current use of the structures. As in OscarNiemeyer Homes, Building's photo images are documented with knowledgeable and descriptive text from Alan Hess.

Amazing
I love the works of Oscar Niemeyer. If you purchase this book please keep in mind that it only covers his work in Brazil and not world wide.

Beatiful creations over a long career
Niemeyer's creations are beautiful, Hess's test is insightful and the photography does an excellent job of highlighting Niemeyer's work. If you like this book, buy the companion book "Oscar Niemeyer's Houses."

Photography not up to par
Weintraub is a widely published architectural photographer but frankly I'm not very impressed by the work in this book. Many of the images are mediocre at best; poorly cropped, composed or lit, etc. Check the images in the book preview and then do a Google image search for Oscar Niemeyer; you'll see for yourself that the Weintraub images are inferior to what is otherwise available.

No Plans, but still nice
I bought Oscar Niemeyer Houses which has lovely images and plans. I'm afraid this has only the images. I had to buy GG's mini mongraph to get the plans. But the images are really nice for the most part. There is a graininess to some of them though, but I cant tell if that is the Brazilian ambience or the photography! I do like this book!
