The Vocal Athlete: Application and Technique for the Hybrid Singer(Includes CD)

This book has one hundred percent changed the way I sing. I am a classically trained opera singer with two performance degrees and have always wanted to be able to belt without strain: this book specifically shows you how to call the belt, support differently, adjust the larynx appropriately, and get the kind of tone with the power needed for musical theatre without sacrificing classical technique. Chapters on musicalizing the emotion and singing through the story also bring in what is often lacking in opera, which is a true understanding of activating the verbs in the text to tell the story rather than to revel in the purity of the voice. Excellent resource for singers and for voice teachers.

Absolutely useful. One of the best vocal pedagogy books I have worked with. Very well written, easy to follow, quite clear explanations about every exercise. I recommend buy it with the workbook. Both are the perfect dupla.

I have bought the original editionTwice in order to get your CD to work. Neither CD could be read on any CD player or computer that I own, including my car CD player. Are there any suggestions that you can offer, as it would be helpful to hear the exercises actually phonated. Otherwise, the first edition anyway, is very interesting and I appreciate studying the human voice and the production of sound as it relates to anatomical, physiological, and muscular dysfunction and recovery.Thank you

I did not like this book. Poor and cheap... Not usefull, I did not like it. Why I need to write to much about something I did not like?

This book is a fantastic resource for teachers looking for new exercises to try with their students. It provides detailed descriptions of the vocal goal within each exercise with a step by step application. The Vocal Athlete collection is a must have for every teacher, especially those teaching CCM styles.
