Both are similar small models,but the old one had several issues. This one is what a vacuum sealer should be.it is so easy to open with the release buttons on each side, where as the old one requiring me to push down hard on each side,(usually need several hard pushes required to get it to unlock), it does take a bit of pressure to close about, equal to my old one. My old one was very difficult to get it to create the vacuum. It would take long time to create the vacuum. On my first attempt with the new one,I saw the bag collapse around my food as the air was expelled- and then it sealed. Then each of every time packages of food I made, I had no issues the size is compact it fits in my cabinet without any problem.I am very happy I ordered this vacuum sealer.I can’t imagine you will not be pleased.it is great value,especially for the price.

Because it hasn’t been thoroughly addressed, YES, this will work jars and containers, IF you have the right accessories. Nowhere in the description does it say these things are included, because they aren’t. An accessory hose is provided, and that hose is compatible with FoodSaver’s jar sealers.Unfortunately, either the instructions for using the manual mode required for containers is wrong, or my machine is defective, because the instructions in the Q&A section for this listing say it will beep when your container is empty of air. Instead, it beeps immediately on pressing the button, leaving you to guess when the air has been completely evacuated. The paper instructions say to hold down the manual button until the machine stops; it never seems to regardless of how long I hold it. This has been tested with multiple jars and containers, all of which do in fact seal during the process. I have deducted one star, as I would prefer to know when the vacuum process is actually done.Overall, the performance using bags with both dry goods, frozen meat, and a thick cream chicken and rice meal (on the wet setting) has been excellent. As long as the edges you intend to seal are clean and dry and positioned correctly, the machine performs as expected, vacuuming well and sealing properly, with no leaks encountered so far. If the jar sealer function worked correctly, this would be a five star device.

My fiance and I bought this, since we bought a dehydrator and planned on making beef jerky. We watched a few of the review videos and thought this would work great! We got it and tried to use it, but it is a bit finicky. We do use it, but we don't love it and here's why:1. We thought we'd be able to do a little bit of liquid in the bag, since it has the "wet" option, but we were wrong. After looking for specific reviews, we noticed it said we had to freeze the liquid a bit first and then we could use it... we're foodsaver newbs! So while this may be common sense to some, it did disappoint us a bit. When we put liquid into it, it would suck it up and make a mess of the bag and the vacuum sealer, so that wasn't fun!2. The foodsaver bag has to be completely clean and clear of any creases for it to vacuum seal. The bags we purchased were defective, I guess. Imagine grabbing a plastic bag and trying to poke a hole through it, then deciding not to. Well, it wouldn't seal so we had to cut the bag in certain areas to make sure it would seal. We also tried to create our own size and realized we had to seal the bag first, then cut, then seal then cut. Versus cutting our own square out and creating a bag that way. A bit of a hassle, but we made do.3. The light stays on, even when there is no power... THE WEIRDEST THING.Overall, this food saver is okay. We kept it out of need, but if I had to order one again, I'd look for one that's a bit more expensive. You get what you pay for I guess!

I was skeptical as the brand name was not a brand I had ever owned. It was so much lighter and smaller than the one I had before. It didn't have a cutter like my old one had. BUT...my old one was heavy, and you had to line up your bag to the nozzle and it was a pain. The old one was hard to clean as well. THIS sealer was SOOOO easy to use. No nozzle to line up with, and the tray at the front was open so it was easy to clean. Loved the option of dry and wet food. I sealed some chicken quarters and OMG I was done in record time. Only had trouble with one bag, and I am thinking maybe I forgot to make sure it was closed on the left side. It was AWESOME! Easy to store and east to use. Love It!

Easy to operate and nice build quality. I was using another vacuum sealer from five years which was very heavy and using a lot of electricity. This one is really small and light weight. I can put this in the closet and bring out when needed. I have been using it for re sealing a lot of snacks and packets. So far i would say it is doing a decent job for me. It is very straightforward and easy to operate. Nothing complicated about this.

Made a mistake and tried vacuum sealing some turkey soup for later. Realized I had it on dry instead of wet. Once corrected it worked fine. All in all it's not a bad product. I can see myself vacuum sealing my kale chips, some leftovers that I love, and tons of other things. Might turn into a prepper yet. Bought the gourmia dehydrator as well, so we shall see.

This food vacuum sealer machine works great. Small size and easy for storage. Tried it for seasoning my steak, result was satisfactory. It also supports dry/wet food seal. It’s a great purchase at this price point. Highly recommended.
