It's an effective alternative to bulky oven gloves that don't grip well and can lead to burned fingers.It's easy to clean, as food simply rinses off.It helps to keep the microwave clean. I would rather clean one of these than remove the glass turntable and risk breaking it.Cons:The product is too thin and flimsy.It may be too large for smaller microwaves, and it would be helpful if it came in a 10-inch size. option.

Another thing that these are really good for is protecting the surface of an inductive stove from, for example, cast iron pans. This is because the induction stove doesn’t get that hot itself—the pan does. However, 99% of my cooking rarely goes above 300F, so I don’t know how well it would do if the pan got up to 450F for an hour.

I bought these microwave mats primarily as a way to lift hot dishes out of the microwave without the bulk of a hot pad. I put the mat under a dish before cooking, and it is in the right place to lift the dish with enough to wrap around the edge to protect my fingers. It has just enough heat protection that, if I move quickly, is adequate to get the dish to a counter top. So, I like the silicone mat better than bulky hot pads; they are easier to wash than cloth pads, can be used to avoid cleanup messes in the microwave, and can also be used to protect my counter top. I would not use them to protect my dining room table from heat, though I have not actually attempted this. I also found that my dishes do not slide on the glass microwave table, which some may prefer, but I find somewhat of a disadvantage to positioning and removing the dishes.

I purchased this item to leave at all times in my microwave to catch any spill overs when I am cooking. So far it has worked fine, I bought this one over the other choices based on price and I wanted a purple color. It does the job my only complaint that really isn't a complaint is that it is thinner than expected but it doesn't keep it from doing the job I want it to do.

I have two red ones but my kitchen is lime green so I really wanted these. The fact that the price went down was a motivator to purchase. Very pleased with these two mats and they are a bit thicker than my red ones (also bought on Amazon).
