Profound
If your are new to the Christian faith or have some confusion about certain things, this book gives clarity to all aspects and sets straight some of the misguided dogma and doctrine that is sadly prevalent in Christianity. A must for someone who wants to know the Gospel message and way of salvation!
“The Normal Christian Birth” clearly explains the four main steps one must experience to be born again and see the Kingdom of God. The teaching is clear, easy to comprehend and is Biblically based with numerous Scriptural references and many examples.I was first exposed to David’s clear Biblical way of presenting the salvation message back in the early 1980’s, and have used this in my ministry in China since that time. The traditional evangelical method of simply asking people to ‘accept Jesus as Savior” and lead them in a simple ‘sinner’s prayer’ in which there is little mention of repentance, water baptism or baptism in the Holy Spirit adds to the number of decision cards filled out in a meeting, but does not save souls and make disciples. In China our vision is to see a true New Testament based church with born-again disciples of Jesus, not just a large number of ‘cultural Christians’. This book and the valuable teaching in it is helping us to reach this goal. I highly recommend it.Dennis Balcombe, Hong Kong SAR

This book will help anyone in Christian ministry; evangelism ...
This book will help anyone in Christian ministry; evangelism, discipleship, prayer ministry, counseling, pastoring, etc. And it will help anyone who is struggling to understand what might be missing in their own walk as a Christian. Using the analogy that Christ used, being born again, Pawson explains the evangelistic practices of the apostles in Acts and why following their examples of bringing people into the Kingdom is necessary for a healthy, flourishing Christian.

The Whole Truth
Everyone should read this book whether a believer in Christ as the Son of God or not. It explains the necessary progression of repentance, belief, action and acceptance every new Christ follower must experience to be fully alive in the kingdom of God. It is critical reading for the new Christian as well as the seasoned Christian. The former will be established in clear understanding of what is involved in entering into life in Christ, and the latter will learn what portion of that process he/she may have missed as well as how to property help a new believer fully enter the kingdom of God.

One of the best books I've ever read!
Phenomenal book! I highly recomend this book to both new Christians and long time Christians as well. David Pawson goes into the details so often neglected by the church in explaining the very important foundations of our Christian life. Every Christian should read this to help gain a better understanding of their own faith as well as to help them to better explain their faith to others. One of those books I'm sure I'll be reading more than once. This is a must have for any Christian library.

Loved it!
I've learned so much with this book. I felt the writing style was not as easy to follow as David Pawson's other books, but the content is rich. You can't help but to realize that many people have not been born again according to the New Testament and its shocking to see the incomplete teaching in our churches. I really like this book and I would definitely read it more than once.

A well laid out apologetic
This is a really good thought provoking book, I am still chewing on some parts, the information and details are clearly and simply laid out before us simply and concisely. After reading and studying the challenge is back on me.

poor print
There are at least 20 pages throughout book with streaks top to bottom and faint/missing print. No response from publisher. Too late to return as I bought several of David Pawson's books and just got to reading this one. Mr. Pawson is an excellent teacher but the publisher of this book is irresponsible. The publisher is 'True Potential Publishing'. I find that other, more reputable, printers also publish this volume and I will certainly watch out to never buy another from True Potential. Problem is you can't always find out printer on Amazon books.

Repent, believe, be baptised, receive!
Excellent book on what initiation into the Christian life looks like according to the New Testament pattern. The book is intended for the 'average' lay believer as well for those in church leadership. The book divides into three major sections:1) Yesterday's Normal Delivery - The theological dimension...in which he sets out his thesis that the normal pattern of initiation into the Christian life consists of (normally but not necessarily in this order): - Repentance - Believing in the Lord Jesus - Being baptized in water - Receiving the Holy Spirit2) The 'What About ...?' Passages - The biblical dimension...in which he argues the above thesis from a survey of the relevant New Testament passages, including Mark 16:9-20; Luke 23:40-43; numerous passages from Acts; Romans 8:9; and many others. This is the largest section of the book, in which he offers some quite striking insights into the precise meaning of the passages in question. He often goes into the meaning of the Greek, and at times the distinctions he makes are quite subtle; but he certainly doesn't require the reader to know Greek.3) Today's Typical Decision - The pastoral dimension...in which he works out the pastoral implications and applications of his thesis in today's Church.David Pawson believes very strongly in believer's baptism, and he hasn't much time for infant baptism, or as he prefers to call it, 'baby baptism.' Nevertheless he recognizes that baby baptism is the norm in many denominations, and gives sensitive pastoral advice on how a Christian believer might deal with having been baptized as a baby. I valued his moderation and good sense in addressing what, for some, is a thorny moral dilemma. He also surveys, and reviews in the light of Scripture, the various contemporary notions of what it means to 'receive the Holy Spirit' (and when this happens). The book was originally published in 1989 and, at the many times it surveys the contemporary Church scene in the UK, does come across as rather dated. Christian expressions of worship have certainly moved on in the past 25 years.Nevertheless the book's central thesis is a timeless one, and this is an excellent, down-to-earth and valuable work for any believer wishing to think through what is the "normal Christian birth".

Inspired clarity
I intended to read this book as a kind of low key relaxation, before embarking on what I believe will be a much more serious study. However the book had been both a delight to read and a useful explanation which has brought useful clarity where clarity is needed.I encourage all in Christian ministry, especially those involved in the role of spiritual midwives to read this book along side study of the scriptures. It will be well worthwhile.

Excellent for New Believers. Teaching the Indispensable Basics
Brilliant writer and extremely thorough in his explanations. Great Bible teacher, understanding that truth must always came back to Scripture. Not afraid to list differences between Christian Groups/people etc. But insists on coming to truth rather than lazy and easy tradition. Would and should have read this years ago. Put it in the hand or go through the book with a new believer. Priceless.

Truly of God
This has to be my favourite Christian book. It has completely changed the way I see the whole new testament. It has some pretty heavy theology in it and definitely isn't easy to read but it is well worth it. More Christians should read this book. It is a true classic.
