Works great
I've been getting these for my son who has fine motor skill issues. It works great for him, in fact, the only product that has seemed to help him. Sometimes it can be hard to twist, and one of them I had to replace the lead and can't seem to get the new one lock into place. Still it's well worth the struggle, and even buying a new one if I have to, because it gets my son to write without tears!

Very effective for kids
My 5 yr. has tried other pencil grips and it wasn't doing the trick. I got this and it has helped steady his fingers and hand in order to write. When he holds it correctly, he actually writes with more pressure. Great tool and I highly recommend. Too bad there's not a crayon set of these!!!

A must have writing w arthritic hands
I really wish someone would’ve told me about this over a year ago when my hand arthritis became so severe that i had to give up a hobby I’ve enjoyed doing since i was a teen, and have done diligently the past 35 years, which is to write in pretty journals. I like to write poetry so when writing became too painful, i just stopped journaling. For over a year. Went through hand surgery. Then at my physical therapy appointment many weeks after my hand surgery, i was instructed to use this to write with. I ordered within the hour of being told of this, and couldn’t get it delivered fast enough so I even did a search trying to find it in stock at local stores but found it was only available by ordering. So i ordered a few sets, one for home office, one for in my purse, and a backup readily available when I do what we all do eventually and lose our favorite pen. Wont be long til i will need to order again, when i lose my backups. And being able to journal again is most important to me in enjoying writing poetry. Sure do wish someone would’ve told me about this sooner though.

Excellent therapeutic and interesting device
This product has helped my grandson and a student develop proper pencil grasps abilities. This product also has helped a student who has a neurological disorder that causes discomfort when writing. The Twist and write product appears to be relieving some of that pain and stress writing has caused the student in the past. Highly recommend

Helps Children Learn Grip
I purchased these pencils on my son's first grade teacher's recommendation. He has had trouble learning to grip his pencils properly and these pencils have really helped with his group. He's used them for a few month's now and we hope to transition to a regular pencil soon has he has gotten use to the right position. These pencils also have a built in eraser on the side to use.

Children's item....not for adults
I did not see that this was for children. Although I did find it in the description when I went back to check on it. I was specifically looking for an adult sized product and am surprised I missed it. I think it could have been more clearly labeled. It works fine. It's hard for me to praise it because I just tried it once and finding it too small have no further use for it. So I can't say whether it would have been very helpful with writing or not.

Use standard 2.0mm drafting pencil leads and sharpeners
(Pictured: a Twist and Write pencil, the box for the replacement leads, a replacement pencil lead, a 2.0mm drafting pencil sharpener, and a normal-size mechanical pencil for size comparison.)As an adult who naturally has a deathgrip due to some proprioceptive issues, I have tried almost every writing instrument and modification available on the market. This isn't my perfect pencil, but that's not this little guy's fault because I'm pretty sure my perfect pencil does not actually exist yet. What I have learned is that this pencil actually uses standard 2.0mm drafting pencil leads, but shortened to fit inside the smaller body of this pencil. If you need precision, you can use 2.0mm drafting pencil sharpeners (the green sphere in the picture on this review) to sharpen the tip. (Remove completely from the pencil before sharpening or the lead will snap.)

Writing is no longer painful
Our 8 year old son has Asperger's and is also dysgraphic. He uses a keyboard in school but we are not abandoning the skill of handwriting. Our challenge is that using a pencil with (or without) a grip was not working in our situation. The OT/teachers at school let me know they use the Twist N Write pencils in school with our son and we might want to try it at home. The pencils are pricey and the refills are not cheap but I can honestly say these changed our lives. Handwriting is still a huge struggle for us but it is not painful anymore.I am thrilled that we made the investment to see if this would work for us. I cannot promise it will work for everyone as each child is different but for us it made a major impact.
