Glaesel GL-3818 3 Prong Bass Mute Ebony Review: Be aware that this mute may not work well for your bass - I purchased this mute having several rubber practice and torte mutes. Unfortunately I have a problem with this mute being called a bass mute. The size of the notch spaces prevents this mute from fitting over the nose of any of my three basses. Nor does it fit over the bridge nose of either of my two spare bridges. My bridges range in thickness 5-8mm at the nose and expand to 10 mm the further you go onto the bridge. This mute's slot is NOT GRADUATED and measures at 5 mm along its entire length. Thus, this mute was completely unusable in my case. I could not return it because I unsuccessfully tried expanding the slot using grinders and blades. The manufacturer should really stop advertising this mute as a BASS mute for its dimensions are not suitable for Doublebass. I took the mute with me to a well known bass luthier on Long Island in NY. I tried slipping this mute onto more than 40 basses. This mute did not fit onto ANY BASS. NONE! There may be a bass somewhere in this world where this mute fits, but I haven't found one among the 43 I've tried. ..m
