Love it!
This is my first product from Tag Heuer and I was apprehensive to purchase it not only because of no previous experience with the brand but also buying from an unauthorized dealer, but I decided to give it a chance and buy direct from Amazon.I've had the Aquaracer 500M Calibre 5 Automatic for a week now and I'm thrilled with it. The quality of the wristwatch is very high. The watch itself is a large piece but I have big wrists so it doesn't look gigantic on my wrist. People with smaller wrists may be put off by the size of the watch though. I didn't have to make any adjustments to the band to wear the watch, it fit properly right out of the box. The watch is also heavy but both the size and the weight give it a satisfying substantial feel. The rotating bezel turns effortlessly and the design is such that the black portion is ribbed and actually slightly recessed, which should help preserve it from scratches over the long run. The face of the dial is also ribbed and has an interesting textured look to it. The large size of the face makes it very easy to read. The date is magnified with a "cyclops" at the 9 o'clock position rather then the traditional 3 o'clock position. The magnification is strong, though I would not say it's as strong as a Rolex. At night the hands and dial glow adequately but I would not call it bright. The case back has an observation window so you can see the internal components of the movement. The clasp includes an expansion for placing the watch over a wet suit if it is to be used for diving.I have previous experience with a Tudor "automatic" watch that was very poor, so I was very concerned at how accurate and reliable the Aquaracer 500M would be. I've set the date and time once via [...] and thus far after one week it has lost 4 seconds so it's operating well within acceptable automatic watch specs, some might even say it's running exceptionally well. I check the accuracy daily. I've experimented with the old "self regulation" tricks to see how they effect the 500m and I've found putting the watch crown up at night results in -2 seconds, laying it flat results in -4 seconds, and placing it crown down yeilds +2 seconds. The loss in time since setting can be accounted for, it appears, by the positions I've placed it in at night. If concerned about the accuracy the Aquaracer 500M is also available in a quartz(battery operated) model.Shipped from Amazon the watch arrived promptly and the serial number, manuals and box were all intact. The international warranty card was not included however, but the watch is covered by a warranty direct from Amazon. After one week of owning the watch I can hardly think of a negative comment about the Aquaracer 500M. The only thing I can think of is the brushed stainless finish, while beautiful, scratches very easily. Light scratches appear to be easily buffed out with a Scotchbright pad however. In my search for a new watch I was considering the Rolex Submariner and the Omega Planet Ocean besides the Aquaracer 500M. I decided on the 500M due to Amazon's price and I was comfortable with a warranty through Amazon. I am 100% satisfied with the purchase and the Submariner and Planet Ocean are distant memories.

BEWARE Cutstomers !!
I purchased this watch through Amazon and within one yr its crown came out. Just to let you know I take extra precaution by using watch winders but still have to use the crown to adjust dates and timings. The crown came out with no effort. I don't handle the watch rough and it hardly has any scratches. Since the watch was covered under warranty I sent the watch to Kentucky and it took six weeks to get it back. Meanwhile they never called me to clarify what was wrong and if they were doing something different. The phone number was not picked many times. I got my watch whose automatic movement was opened and serviced ( that I never asked for) but they explained that as part of routine service once the seal is opened for any repairs. I expect this be explained beforehand and not such orphaned treatment of expensive time piece. The crown winding was not as smooth and they reassured to use it and screw it tight ( instead of snug) to maintain its water proof properties.Within few weeks the has become totally free and the watch is dead. You can not use the watch with loose crown and I called Amazon. They again asked me to send the watch to the workshop in Kentucky. I explained that that this could be recurring problem and once the warranty phase is over, it will be down the drain if problems keep recurring ( these are supposed to be lifetime watches with great reputation) but the lady (Amy) did not acknowledge return. Internet and other customer reviews are rife with crown problems with this watch that could be manufacturing defect and she gave me the Tag Heur number 866-260-0460 located in Springfield NJ. The supervisor (Laura) told clearly that Tag Heuer has NO AFFILIATION with Amazon. There is no question of manufacturing defect as the customer has to deal with Amazon. Tag only deals with watches purchased through authorized dealers and Amazon is NOT one of them ( though by the way product is highlighted it gives the impression its sold by Tag and not dealer). It was obvious that Amazon must have purchased it through some authorized Tag dealer as they are benefiting from such mass sale by online portal and if that could be tracked. She gave no response to that.My advise is to NOT buy Tag Heuer at all and particularly not online unless there is accountability to return defective watches instead of endless and shoddy workshops doing repairs. This is clearly a scheme ( benefitting Tag Heuer eventually and Amazon) where risk of reducing cost of expensive time piece falls on customer. You would feel cheated by misleading product description in the absence of warranty that one expects for expensive items. My trust purchasing from amazon is shaken with unresponsiveness to resolve the issue. Hope you guys looking for brand names invest with some security and buy it only from an authorized dealer.

Love the watch - Amazon repair service is HORRIBLE
Note this review is for a purchase made directly from Amazon, not a 3rd party.I've had my watch for just over a year now, and love it. I knew going into this that the service was 3rd party via Amazon and not direct from Tag, but based on the savings was willing to chance it. I sent my watch back to their service provider (Swinford Jewelers) in Kentucky 2 months ago. I've tried to contact the vendor twice via web form / email (there is no phone # or direct email address) and they haven't responded at all. At this juncture I have no idea if they have the watch, are fixing it, or if / when I will ever get it back, etc. .For potential buyers of this (or any watch with Amazon service) I would say buyer beware, and make sure you have another watch to wear as a back up.Good luckupdate - now the email alias for the service provider is bouncingcontacted amazon customer service to see if they can helpsubmitted Swinford Jewelers to BBB

2nd time is a charm
Recieved the watch, but could not get it to start ticking. Took the brand new watch to a repair shop thinking I was doing something incorrectly. They told me the watch was defective, so I had it sent back with no trouble. I then ordered the same model with the rubber strap which I ended up liking much better. Overall the experience was ok, thankfully Amazon made the return pretty easy and I was refunded promply for the defective watch.
