Monster Screws
These screws are used with the Kreg HD pocket jig and drill.Kreg Jig HD Starter Kit, Kreg# KJHD. I love them. These replace the #8 X 2-1/2 screws that are used in the standard jig. If you set the two screws side by side the difference is huge. These screws are BIG, really BIG. Both the shank and the threads are about twice as big as the smaller screw. They use a 1/2" pilot hole instead of a 3/8" hole. The maker says they are for 2 by lumber and they work great at joining that. I've been using them to make 8' long saw horses and they hold the pieces TIGHT! One thing to remember is that they use a #3 Robertson (square) screw driver, not the usual #2. I drove them with an impact driver without any trouble but I wouldn't even try to put one in by hand. They have a rust resistant coating that looks pretty tough. If you are looking for the drill to make the pockets for these this is it Hitachi D10VF 9 Amp 3/8-Inch Drill

Best Screws For 2x4s
The Kreg system these screws are made for connects 2x4s or other large lumber for large projects. I've used them often in construction of yard projects, inside shelving and so forth. They work great. I have never had them fail, and I've used them for a wide variety of projects since they first came on the market several years ago (more than 10, and maybe as much as 20 years ago). I've used other Kreg screws for cabinet work and they are also excellent. I've owned two Kreg jigs and used them extensively for many years.Once 2x4 are joined by these screws they hold fast and the boards are not going anywhere. These screws will suck the joint up tight. Of course, the lumber has to be prepared correctly and the joint has to join flat, because nothing will make up for sloppy work or really bad lumber used without preparation, but if you follow even basic woodworking techniques these screws will make a dependable joint that very strong.AD2

Love 'em
These screws are a little expensive, but I absolutely love them. I wish they took a torx bit instead of square, but I've only had an issue with one of these screws out of 3 full boxes so far. They also hold up outside very well and after a full summer look as though they are brand new. Of course they work great with the Kreg Jigs as well.I like that there are no sharp edges on these. I used them on a kids swing set in many spots where I didn't want any splinters or slivers for the kids that like to play on it without shoes and socks. Highly recommended even if you don't own a Kreg jig.

Outdoor projects become a breeze!
If you thought the original Kreg jig was Nirvana for utility projects indoors, the larger kit for projects using 2x construction lumber will send you over the moon. The combo is THE most usable product for beginners of all kinds - build doghouses, decks, benches, work spaces, sheds, pergolas - and use these screws. They work better than normal wood screws - the unthreaded part near the head draws the two pieces of material together TIGHT. Success breeds more success. Once you get a handle on how the Kreg principle works, you can build just about anything. The value of the project will far exceed the cost of the materials and the combination of Kreg jig + Kreg fasteners completes the kit. I've used alternative fasteners with Kreg projects. Many cost more. They didn't do a better job. Kreg screws are a great value.

Essential for my workshop, but quality is a little inconsistent
I've gone through about 400 of these over the past few months. They are my go-to screw for building with two-by lumber. These are beefy and versatile screws. I've also used them for non-pocket hole needs where a heavy screw with a washer head is useful, such as when attaching large casters. My main complaint with these screws is that each box contains a handful of defective screws that I end up throwing out. The most common defect is that the brown protective coating is applied too thickly within the square drive slot, so that the driver bit cannot fit into and grip the slot properly. Given how expensive these screws are, I'm tossing out a couple bucks worth of defective screws from every 125 count box. That said, I absolutely rely on these screws and will continue to stock them. I wish they were available in larger bulk sizes!

The best screws
These are hearty tough strong screws. Which is why they cost more. It is important that you don’t over drive them, just snug them down. With the washer head, any extra spin will tend to strip the wood away around the threads and weaken the joint rather than make it tighter. When installed correctly they make a really strong joint in no time.As others have mentioned, I find these screws useful for non-pocket hole applications too. Whenever you need a really strong hold.

Worked great for 2x pressure treated lumber
Used these screws in building a sliding barn door for a shed and for some lighter framing with pressure treated lumber. They seemed to work great for that, we'll see how they hold up against the pressure treating chemicals over the next decade or two. I wanted to get stainless structural pocket hole screws but couldn't and these were my second choice. Each box I bought had probably 5% of the screws being unusable due to having too much of the coating within the square drive. This is normal in my experience for coated or galvanized screws but still annoying and frustrating.I just wish they also made a 1.5" long version of this screw, I have a few projects which a 2.5" screw is going to be too long for. If they do make a 1.5" version, it's super hard to find.

Robust screws for longevity
Great item for more robust projects requiring additional durability. Used to build six large doors (9x4) and a set of exterior stairs. Happy with the quality (fit/finish), have used two tubes and on too my third. Pricing was better than I found locally (hard to find locally). Will continue to use, would recommend. Used a #3 bit and the larger Kreg jig.

Heavy duty
Great for use in 2x4 stock. More sturdy than the standard 2 1/2” kreg screws.
