BLACK+DECKER Charger for NiCad Batteries, 9.6V - 24V (BDCCN24)

I bought this as replacement of the power supply for B&D battery. It is original so it work as expected. It is only for NiCd battery, but of course the plug works only for the right battery. Good price.

I'm not often surprised but this charger met the test. Two summer seasons ago I bought a B&D 18V grass trimmer/edger that came with two Ni-CAD batteries and a charger. As I began the 3rd season the batteries lasted about 5 minutes, still requiring 9-hours to charge. Rather than trashing the whole unit, I bought two new replacement batteries on Amazon (Energup) that boasted 3.0Ah or about double the power of the original OE batteries. They worked great and I was back up and running, but they still took 9-hours to charge. Then I bought this B&D charger (BDCCN24) which said ONE HOUR charge time, which of course I didn't believe! Boy was I surprised as I found the charge time was closer to 45 minutes, vs. 9-hours!! No, the run-time wasn't increased, still 20-30 minutes, but the increase in power/rpm due to the 3.0Ah battery rating was quite impressive. Lastly I bought a 3-pack of replacement string spools from Mission Cables via Amazon, which cost the same as one B&D brand spool at the local hardware store. And, they were 40 feet of .065" rather than 30 feet from B&D. Basically 4 for the price of 1. Happy whacking, hope this was of help.

Works well; doesn’t charge in 15 minutes as with lithium-ion batteries on my other tools, but charges faster than my original B&D charger, which was overnight. This one takes maybe 3 hours. I took a star off because (from my recollection, so I may be mistaken) the user guide still doesn’t give good info as to how long you can leave a battery installed on it without reducing life of battery. Online research made me feel I could leave the battery on for hours after it was charged but if I notice it IS charged, I remove it.

This charger is great, it really does charge in one hour or less depending on the battery's charge level. I bought a new 3600mAH NMH 18V battery (non-OEM) on Amazon along with this B&D charger, and they worked very well together. I also used it to recharge my other 3 old NiCd batteries. The indicator on the charger showed that one of them can no longer be charged (fast blinking LED), which is great, so I can put that one aside for recycling. The original cheap charger that came with my B&D tool set does not do that. One detail: do not expect this charger to "recondition" old NiCd batteries as indicated by another reviewer. Although they will fast charge within one hour, they still only last whatever they did before.

I read reviews on BD chargers until I was blue in the face. This one had good reviews. I wanted to see if my dead NiCad batter could be revived as well as charge the new Lithium battery I bought to run the saw. First I slid the old dead battery in the slots. The old small simple charger simply gave up trying to charge the old battery. After trying to charge for a week, the saw burped once and died. So this was a big test. After about 30 minutes, the new charger showed the old battery was charged. Went to the say and it worked great for several minutes. Not having a specific need at the moment, I only let it run for a few minutes. But for it to do anything was an improvement. Now the Lithium batter... It took a bit more to charge, maybe 45 minutes. Now it is fully charged and runs the saw great. This charger charges both types of batteries and it gave new life to an old dead battery that I was going to throw away. You won't regret the purchase of this charger.

Having read some previous reviews, here and elsewhere, I had been somewhat hesitant in purchasing a charger for my Firestorm tool batteries. Most of the prices were roughly a quarter of what the original set had cost. After two very satisfactory experiences with Amazon's return policy, I decided to give it a try when the original charging system finally ceased to work. I chose the BDCCN24 because: --It was a genuine B&D product --It seemed to include the batteries I currently had, though there were a few more letters attached The product has worked perfectly, both for the recently-purchased replacement battery as well as the batteries that originally came with the set. This means my tools will be ready to run at full power for an entire workday, something I haven't had since I first bought them.

Solved some of our problems with our older Black and Decker tools/batteries. A couple of the older batteries still wouldn't charge but I guess they are just bad and should be recycled. However, several of the other batteries charged fully and fast and made our yard trimmers usable again. Charges better and faster than the charger that came with the tools. This particular vendor shipped fast and the price for this new charger was cheaper than the Black and Decker website.

Works as advertised. Restored an 18V battery I thought was finished. Fast charge. Can leave it connected overnight and all day, but to get a full charge / maximum use, I unplug and reconnect it 30 - 60 minutes before use as that seems to restore full power (some dissipates if left plugged in for several hours).

It works well and does the job. I believe it is an authentic B and D item. I use it often and it charges fast.

Works really well with my B&D battery packs. Fully charged in less than 2 hours.
