A guide for every Christian that works in education
I enjoy the presentation and the fact that there is no question about the purpose of this book. "This book deals with Christian approaches to teaching and learning." Not just within christian schools but for public schools as well. It is imperative to ensure that the values used within all education have a Christian foundation. It is impossible to teach children with a neutral bias, such a thing is impossible. Therefore ensure that wherever you find yourself in the field of education that you are prepared to teach in alignment with Christian values.

Good book for Christian teachers
This book is very biblical. He quotes extensivly from the Bible. The author talks about different teaching strategies as well.

Love it
I love this book. I had to buy it for a class I was taking. I bought it on the Kindle because it was much cheaper, but I would love a hard copy to take notes and leave in my classroom. The book offers great insights for Christian teachers and how they can bring Christ with them into their classroom.

Great read for Christian teachers
Good topics and thoughtful integration of faith-based teaching. Makes a clear and helpful distinction between teaching in secular or no secular classrooms.

A good resource on self-identifying Christian Schools
Though some may be surprised or even periodically unnerved by some of the views expressed here, I find that Walking with God in the Classroom lends valuable insight into Evangelical Christian schools and education that is based on a biblical worldview. Also, this book is a powerful testimony of faith, and much of the wisdom that it has to impart applies to children and education in general. The biggest caveat is that it's largely instructional, so if you're not actively seeking a career in Christian School education, you will probably feel compelled to disregard or skip entire sections or chapters.

Every Christian educator should read this book
Had to purchase this for a grad class I took, but I wish I'd read it long ago. Van Brummelen actually brings up the point that we may not agree on everything (which I found to be true of his book), but his major premises are sound and practical. I highly recommend it!

Faster than first thought!
At first I thought it would take ages to get here (because I live in New Zealand and was ordering it in from the USA), but it arrived within 3 weeks!! I was pleasantly surprised! It was in good condition too, as promised. :)

Practical
Much better than his other book "Steppingstones to Curriculum: A Biblical Path". This text actually has a lot of practical application to a variety of classroom environments. This was actually a good read.

Not what I expected
This book did not really give me any practical strategies for applying a Christian worldview in the classroom. It is more in the style of philosophy, and very traditional philosophy. I was hoping for a more modern approach.
