Jukeboxes (Schiffer Book for Collectors) Hardcover – Illustrated, January 6, 1997

It’s always great to order something and expect the product to meet your expectation and these books exceeded my expectation, what a treat!

Not bad, but focuses far too much on the German market. One co-author is German, explaining the German influence. We are repeatedly shown full-page German jukebox ads and articles (yes articles!) written in German, yet we don't see photos at all of many important jukebox models that were produced during the "Platinum Age" of jukebox design. I understand that there were jukeboxes made outside the USA, but I was looking for a "reference" type book for collecting jukes, while this is more a "world-history and social influence" of the jukebox. I feel the authors strayed a bit too much from the strict theme of jukeboxes, veering often into the "social scene" that was created around jukes, especially in the 50's. Again, I get it, there's a story to be told there, but I'm not sure this is the book to tell it in.

Bought this book for my dad. He use to fix up old jukeboxes in the 70s and 80s from the 40s onward. He was like a little kid fipping through it.Picture's were bright and clear. Good amount of information/history on each jukebox. Wouldn't consider it a real "collectors guide" since it doesn't go into details on what to look for when collecting and no prices.PACKAGING: Sorry to see one of the reviewers below only gave 1 star based on the packaging. Mine came in a single wrapped book box a day early. New condition.

Interesting, but would be more so for German folk. Significant amount of text is interview with European person who has no appreciation for any machine other than those playing 45's. A bit disappointing.

Packing sucked.I bought 4 iron casters at the same time and the casters were plased right on top of the book.Needless to say,the book was beat to hell by the casters bouncing on top of it.The book looks like it was run over by a truck.I'm very unhappy.
