Sometimes it's the little things... unbelievably this works.
So this technology is not odd, nor unobtainable. What's odd is the price point... which is probably about what an empty box shipped next day would cost. Here's my set up:I have a 1080P 3D projector in the basement along with a 120" screen, a nice receiver and an 8 channel setup. No one in my family will go down there... because it's the basement. We have a nice, finished, relatively comfortable, dry basement. In the summer it stays cool; in the winter it stays warm. I guess it's still a basement. Whatever. So I wasted tons of money on a home theater that no one uses... welcome to fatherhood... but there is a solution. Everyone loves our back yard, and so eventually movies in the backyard became a thing.Actually, I think, backyard movies became a thing because it is incredibly difficult to set up, nothing ever works, and I'm the only one who knows how to put it all together. I can bring the Apple tv outside and connect it to the projector, but the audio needs to go back down to the basement, as our backyard speakers are connected to Zone 2 of the home theater receiver. I can leave everything plugged into the receiver and run an HDMI cable across the basement, out the window, across the yard, to the very expensive projector. No one will trip over a 75' HDMI or a 50' extension cord when running around the yard, right? Everything works without a hitch over long cables, right? So further in the backyard is our garden area.... I'm getting to the review, hold on a minute. This area is lit with smart bulbs and has a somewhat complex smart system running various aspects of our koi ponds. This area, without going into detail, is wired for power, audio, ethernet and a few different smart hubs. I ran a backup unused ethernet cable in one of the conduits when I installed all this, and our main distribution switch is directly next to the projector in the basement. HDMI is already run from the receiver to where the projector is.I purchased this HDMI to ethernet set fully thinking this wasn't going to work. I plugged the HDMI out from my receiver to the sending unit along with the end of the spare ethernet cable. The other end of that ethernet cable goes across the basement, outside, and 70 feet across the yard to a waterproof box in our garden. Total run of ethernet is about 100', and it's 5e, not the recommended Cat6. This gave me an ethernet outlet about 6 feet from where my projector needs to be for a 120" screen using rear projection (so no one trips over the cables).I plugged everything in, and my mind started taking bets on how exactly this device would fail. The only thing that would have surprised me was success.I was surprised.Everything worked. 1080P 3D, 5.1 audio (verified on my basement receiver), stereo PCM, and HDMI-CEC. I didn't test any advanced audio modes like True HD because my outdoor theater can't really use that. I have now used this for about a month and have watched quite a few movies with this setup. I can't quite speak for the longevity yet, but if it breaks I will buy another one.I can now set up an outdoor theater in about 20 minutes when it once took a couple hours. These magic boxes work and save me time, money, and frustration... and now we're watching more outdoor movies.

High-quality HDMI extension
Update: 5/13/25After about 1 month in use, one of these has failed. I can't seem to find how to contact anyone with the company to utilize the warranty. It's nice to offer a 1 year warranty, however, when you can't actually contact anyone to claim the warranty, it doesn't do any good.I used 2 of these in a client's building. I used a different extender to transmit HDMI and USB over the ethernet cable from the front room to a back room. I then used a powered HDMI splitter to split that HDMI output to three screens, one via direct HDMI cable, and two with these.I've never had luck with HDMI cables over 25' long, so I like to use these extenders. These worked flawlessly for my client, and it allows the display and audio to extend much further than a regular HDMI cable, and it's super easy to run the ethernet cable as needed.

Important information for this product
I purchased two of these to monitor cameras in our church's live stream setup. One worked, one didn't. The one that didn't would show an image for about 5 seconds then the screen would go blank for about 15 seconds and then the cycle would repeat. I submitted a question on Amazon describing the problem and got a prompt reply from the seller. (June 23, 2022) The seller said, among other things, the problem could be electrical interference. I realized this was probably the problem since the unit that did not work had its cat6 cable running parallel to fluorescent light fixtures for almost 50 feet. I then tried using the extender with the fluorescent lights turned off. It worked fine so this told me the fluorescent lights was the problem. The seller recommended using the Dongjian 600 foot extender (ASIN B09MT2RGYV) for this application. I did so and now both extenders work fine. One must not make the mistake of being critical of the product for not working in this situation. It was designed for a particular price/performance tradeoff. This item probably works fine for the vast majority of situations. If a more robust solution is needed, such as mine, the higher priced 600 foot version can be used.I am grateful for the product information from the seller that helped me solve the problem.UPDATE:After using the second unit for several hours I discovered it too occasionally would drop the signal, not nearly as often as the first unit but enough to be annoying. This unit should have worked well since there was nothing unusual about this installation. (HDMI cables one meter long, CAT6 cable 50 feet long, no known electrical interference) The only thing I can think of is the CAT6 cable used is CCA which was not recommended by the seller but with an advertised distance of 192 feet I wouldn't think this should be an issue with a 50 foot CCA CAT6 cable. So, in the end I returned both units and replaced them with the Dongjian 600 foot units. Both of these units work fine.I changed my original rating of five stars to four stars. I perhaps should have rated it lower based on my experience alone but all installations are different and there are factors that bear on the performance that are beyond the control of the product. My recommendation is to purchase the Dongjian 600 foot unit instead.

Not worth it at $1
Purchased the product after reading reviews, came very quickly. I had Blackbirds before so thought I try something different. Connected them up, started working, 4 hours later they kept going on and off until no more picture. Reset by turning power off for 10 minutes, they came back on and then froze to the channel. Could not change the channel, Failed within a few hours. Quality Control really bad. Returning for a full refund. This is where ratings did not help.
