Whats the size of the cut out for installation?

The cutout cut sheet is in the photos on the left of amazons retail sales page. just tic through the photos

According to description, cutout width is 29.75" and surface width is 30". So, only 0.25" is left for holding the cooktop. is that right?

I believe those dimensions are correct. Note that the width (or length?) dimension has a difference of 1 inch. I bought the 12 inch model and the cutout dimensions have a bit more overhang. A well made product, should be ok if you cut the hole as stated.
