Extremely Well Made
This comes in a beautiful and very well-made storage box. The proportional scale is very sturdy and nicely finished. You will have to play around with it for a bit to figure out the scale, but it isn't hard. I used a metric ruler to determine the setting for scale. I use metric measurements in my studio because it is easier to divide and determine what my scale from a reference photo. I never know what reference photo my clients will provide me with will be so there is always scaling involved. I am looking forward to using this going forward. If I had not already purchased this and I had one in my hands, I would absolutely buy it.

Impressive device
Looks great, and it works perfect. Not much more I can say. I would recommend instructions though. I was a bit confused on how it works. I'm using it for my artwork. I learned for me to use 'Line' for what I'm doing. Just put it on #2 for 2x the size on the large size. put it on 3 for 3x and so on. There was a youtube video on your product.

lack of instructions
The "Lines" scale sets the two sets of pointers in direct proportion. The "Circles" scale is used to inscribe regular polygons inside circles. After setting the sliding hinge to a number (say six), the large legs areset to the diameter of the circle and the short legs give the length of thesides of the required inscribed polygon (in this example a six sidedhexagon)."Plans" and "Solids" scales are less common and are mostly found on olderinstruments. The "Plans" scale enabled shapes to be reduced so that their areas are inthe ratio of the setting. For example, if it is required to draw a circle ofone third of the area of a given circle, the dividers are set to 3 on the"Plans" scale and the long points are set to the diameter of the givencircle. The short points then give the diameter of the required circle. The "Solids" scale performs a similar function for volumes. For example, tofind the size of a cube which is one third the volume of a given cube, thehinge is set to three on the "Solids" scale and the dividers can then beused to scale of the reduced sides of the new cube.Since areas are proportional to length squared and volumes are proportionalto length cubed, obviously the "Plans" and "Solids" scales are really squareroot and cube root scales. For example, if the "Plans" scale setting of 3 isused, then the pointers are set in the ratio of 3 to the square root of 3(=1.732). A setting of 3 on the "Solids" scale sets the dividers in theratio of 3 to the cube root of 3 (=1.442).(by Bruce Sandie, Melbourne, Australia)

Nice, but was maybe used?
This is exactly what I wanted, but the brass seemed quite scuffed and scratched. It's good for my purposes, just surprised it wasn't shiny and new looking. Easy to use and works just fine.

Not practical for drawing
Seems like a great idea, but in practice this was too difficult to use quickly while working. Maybe I just need to work with it more, and it is very pretty - especially with the box.

It’s well made and came in a wooden and brass box.
I make wooden bowls and put Native American graphics on them The tool makes this process easier.

Less stress using this.
I use this for artwork. it's only off a millimetre or 2 max. You do get what you pay for, I didn't want something expensive, but for my needs with drawing, it works great. It took a while to figure out how to use it, but I went on YouTube and for what I use it for, it works really good. I wish I would have tried one of these sooner. It's saved me a quite a few headaches with proportions. The box was really nice as well.

I use these in setting out paintings.
No instructions so I am still figuring them out. However very well made from steel and brass and they will do the job very well.

Beautiful
It’s a beautiful piece unfortunately I found it too heavy for me to work with when drawing. I needed a lighter tool I was fumbling trying to use it.

Seam's good enough but end points are dull and large
I am a bit disapointed. Even if some gived good value to this item, the end point gived not enough precision for my used : planking of hull of model ship.
