Sealable carrier
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I made a video and not sure it shows how really big the bag is. I bought to put in top of the Jeep but we are using the truck so will be able to have suitcases in the back and not worry about anything getting wet. Not only is there a zipper around the entire thing, there is Velcro to hold the sides down so no rain could make it in at all. The tie downs are of great quality like the carrier and have a great locking system.

Good quality; good value
Look, I am among the world's worse when it comes to tying knots and such (the rabbit comes out of the hole, runs around the tree ...). So, I had trouble shortening the straps and wound up tying a series of my-kinda-knots so the straps didn't flapin the wind. That said, I got the carrier bag on top of the car, filled it with stuff, zipped it up and strapped it down. After about 50 miles, one of my take-up-the-slack knots came unravelled and the strap end began fluttering against the roof. I stopped and re-tied it better and all was well. The carrier bag performed very well. Went thru tropical storm Nestor and it didn't leak anywhere. And that's the bottom line. Good purchase. Now all I gotta do is learn how to shorten straps.

Gave us more room for our move
I purchased this roof ton carrier help in our move to Qashington fro California. We decided to pack it once it was on the car roof . Several other reviewers mentioned they thought packing it first and then moving it to the roof was easier. Depending on the height of your car, you need at least one other person to tie the carrier to the roof so it rides correctly and is securely fastened. we definitely were able to stuff it full including packed boxes and several garbage bags full of clothes and other items. i did not put any potential breakables on the top. We drove straight through to Bellingham, WA, over a total of 18 hours, which included stops at several rest areas. The carrier stayed in place and didn't find any problems with it when we arrived. it was harder unpacking because our extra help didn't move with us. However between my son and I we managed to get it accomplished. I would have given 5 stars the fact it needs at least two people to get it set up, packed, and tied down with the reverse at your destination. But, it does keep your packed items safe and travels without a problem. It is worth the price and then some.

Pleased, durable, and Happy
One, It fit:A Bugaboo Bee stroller2 carry-on suitcases1 medium suitcase2 toddler airbags1 duffle bag!Give to say, for my family I want to upgrade to a bigger size, but if I don't have the stroller than its enough room!! We have 6 people total in our family. We just tend to have food inside the car. If that makes any sense. Two:It RAINED 12 hours!! My entire trip! From leaving home to destination. The rain went from drizzle to hard rain and everything in between.Everything inside was dry! My kids thought it was went bc it was cold.. butnl definitely not wet!Overall it was a great product. Very pleased. Husband was skeptical but it is durable and good!Only thing that I didn't figure out was how to tie or hide the extra ropes after it's titened but I tied them together so less flapping noise when driving. But even if I didn't, the flapping didn't bother me.

Great Product!
I installed this cargo carrier on a 2 rail rack on top of my Volkswagon for a long trip from Massachusetts to Texas. It held a whole lot of extra things we were bringing to our new home. The mat made sure the carrier didn't slip very well. Our trip stated with rain which then turned to slush. Yes we were concerned that the contents might get wet. After a 30 hour drive with two stops in rainy weather we found the contents perfectly dry. We are very happy with this purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for a simple solution to carrying some extra stuff on a long trip. One bit of advice - the straps are monger than they need to be so after wrapping them around the buckles, I duct-taped the extra strap length to the buckle so it didn't flap around in the wind. Sturdy practical and effective product!

Good quality but not waterproof
Bag is a good size, and seems plenty durable. The material is pretty thick, I measured about .018" on the flap covering the zipper, which is a nice touch as well...the only thing is I don't know if I can call this waterproof. I did 3 separate tests by giving it a light spray from my garden hose from multiple angles for 1 min and each time it had a small amount of water inside. I did another final heavier spray and it had about the same amount of water inside, but nevertheless it did get in somewhat. I made sure the zipper was fully closed and the flap was properly positioned each time, I was pretty surprised of the result given the quality of the bag.

Works great but try crossbars
So I do recommend but I would say only with crossbars or if you don't plan on taking it down until the end of the road trip. We took it from Florida to Colorado and it's kept our stuff dry and protected through wind and rain. (Definitely place the cover so that the side with no zipper is in the front.) But we would take it down and place our things inside the car when we stayed in hotels and eventually the mat that prevents sliding got dirty and wouldn't hold. The cargo cover was sliding down the back and created a bad lag. We had to place everything in the car which crammed our dog in the back. The dog was half the reason we wanted everything on top. We do plan on using this again in the future. The only bad thing besides it not staying (which I don't think would happen if it was left on top the entire time.) Is that the Velcro adhesive came off one of them after us opening and closing so much. Even so it was still safe from the rain.

Good but straps a bit difficult.
Only had one trip with it and it rode well. The only issue was mounting it to the roof. First, it didn't come with any instructions so I was not completely sure I fastened it according to recommendation. Second, the straps are too limiting and difficult to tighten as there is a set amount of slack between the two attaching clasps/clips. This only allows for a certain length of strapping free to tighten. I had to reconfigure the straps to ensure a secure hold. With the load I had, crossing the straps in a "X" pattern worked well.
