Highly recommended but dry in a couple of days
Maybe Florida sun dries these out more quickly than other reviewers, but I can only count on these for a few days at the most. Mint seems to suck the water up in a day, which is not Apollo's fault, but all the hype is not warranted. This said, they are attractive and fairly easy to water. I'm hoping the plastic connectors last.We bough four of these and I placed different plants in each to evaluate which looks best. The planters are not obtrusive and look great. The plants are the stars, as they should be. I use the shower setting to wet them from the top and then a finer setting to fill the reservoir on the side. It is easy to over-fill or for draining from the top to continue filling the reservoir, making a mess on the floor, so if this is a problem just fill the reservoir and never wet it from the top.

These planters saved me $100's of dollars in dead plants - mid-July and all my plants are still ALIVE and HEALTHY!!
Finally, after YEARS of throwing away hundreds of dollars worth of hanging plants by mid-late summer, THIS year all my plants are still beautiful. This self-watering planter has a reservoir in the bottom of the pot that hold a few days worth of water, so when you miss a day of watering NO MORE DEAD PLANTS!! Now I can go away for the weekend even when it's baking-hot and I don't have to ask relatives to come water all my plants for me... YAY!I bought 10" hanging baskets from my local nursery, popped the plants out of the nursery pots, and they fit just about perfect into this pot ... I just supplement with a little Miracle Gro soil around the outside edges and I'm done. I also bought two vining plants that came in one gallon containers and this pot easily held the two 1-gallon plants. My step-mother has had these planters for years (all in good shape and still working!) and I finally tracked them down on Amazon. She bought hers at Frank's Nursery and Crafts, so that tells you how long she's had her pots!

The water reservoir in the bottom of these self-watering pots ...
The water reservoir in the bottom of these self-watering pots made all the difference for my ivy geraniums. I had them in hanging baskets and the water just drained out the bottom, so they dried out quickly, especially during the hot summer months. They always looked on the verge of dying with yellow leaves and barely any flowers. Now that they are in these pots they have a ton of green foliage and flowers. I still have to fertilize, or they will get sickly again, but drying out isn't a problem any more, even in the sun.Of course, any self-watering pot will do the trick, but these plastic ones are light weight by themselves, so with the plant and water in them, they are still light enough to lift up to the hanger hook. They even came in a variety of colors.

Self-watering pots: must have for brown (and green!) thumb gardeners
After 6 years the pots still work perfectly. They live outside year round in PNW rain and sun but rope and rings still in surprisingly good shape. I wouldn't plant fuscias in anything else.I think this system works better than those that just have an insert but no way to tell how much water is in the reserve.I could only wish they came in different colors, but am just grateful the tea Cora are at least still available.Original review 2012:Self-watering pots are great for those of us who are absent minded about plants or for plants that are finicky about water, such as fuscias.

very nice looking and large basket
I have had the baskets for about a month now and am pleased with the size and the appearance of the baskets. Because we have had a very wet summer, it is difficult to determine how well the self-watering feature is working. Compared to non-self watering basket that I have hanging in a similar location, it seems to be working.

Nice addition to the deck.
I needed to replace my hanging baskets this year. I love the color choices of these baskets. The water resevoir below the plant will be perfect for a long hot summer day. I would have preferred something other than a macrame for the hanging part. My flowers look beautiful, healthy, and well watered in these baskets.

Seriously holds onto water
This planter is perfect for my "keep away from the cats" plants. It really, REALLY can hold a lot of water which is great for those that forget to water their plants. However, as the soil can be damp pretty much all the time, mold can grow on top and if you don't notice or get a bad strain, bye-bye plant.

Planter
Great hanging planter. Can be watered from the top or the bottom. The hanging baskets you get from stores never have a bottom for catching excessive water so they have to be carried to the sink or tub to be watered, big pain if it is a big plant. With this planter I water a little from the top and fill up the bottom trap and it lasts for 10 or 14 days. I even bought extra ones and take off the hanging part for table top display. Looks best in terra cotta.
