This is a very good book for one who is really into stamp collecting. I am just trying to find an overview for someone who has inherited a collection and wants to know what to do with it. The print is much too small for me.

It was a gift for my husband to give him another hobby in his retirement. He is working every night on his stamps or coin collection.

begins with the origins of stamps, shares the various items a person can use to collect. mentions various ways that a person can collect, fakes, themes, and more, then shares stamps from various countries, including...north korea?! insightful. (no prices mentioned, this is geared towards collecting).

I chose this book to look up values on my stamp collection. It didn't have enough detail to assess values of stamps.

This is a very interesting and useful book, it contains information about each region of the world and the various colonies and dependencies and the dates when they started issuing stamps. I was hoping there might be a list of how each country identifies itself on their stamps as I have some I can't place but this is a great book both for complete beginners and people who have been collecting a while. It has a lot of information about the history of stamps and different approaches to collecting.
