Book was filled with beautiful images of the Philippines, culture, history and people. Absolutely loved adding this to my collection of books.

For any Filipino/Polynesian Tattoo history buff... this book is for you! I highly recommend it.

I'd give this a MILLION STARS if I could!!! One of the best tribal tattoo traditions I've read/looked at in a while! Another beautiful expression of tribal tattoos!

I'll say this is one of the most informative books on the market regarding Filipino tribal tattoos. The only reason why I give it a 4 rather than 5 star is because of the cost. I bought this book 2 and half years ago for 132.27 on Amazon.

Beautifully written. I was hesitant about spending this much on a book, but once I saw it, I was not disappointed. The pages are thick and made of good quality, heavy duty paper. This could easily be used as a textbook and will make a great coffee table book. Amazing pictures throughout. A very inspiring book. I look forward to passing this book on to the generations after me.

Lars Krutak and the photographers documenting the tattoo culture of the Kalinga people have done an amazing job of providing a rich and "thick" description of this practice. The book is stunningly beautiful--filled with cultural stories and tattoo practices that are disappearing. Kudos to Lars and the team that put it together.

Zuallererst: Preis ist gerechtfertigt, dass sind vorab schon mal 5kg Buch und über 420 Seiten voll mit Infos und Bildern.Ich bin Halb-Filipino und habe nach einem Tattoo Idee gesucht, die meinen Wurzeln mütterlicherseits entspricht.Ich habe das Buch vor allem wegen den Motiven, der Bedeutung und der Geschichte gekauft, nicht aus anthropologischen Gründen, um das vorab geklärt zu haben.Ich habe das Buch geradezu verschlungen, es bietet alle Infos die man für ein Tattoo braucht, besonders schön ist das letzte Kapitel für mich, darin geht es um die Neubelebung der philippinischen Tätowierkunst.Darin sind Tattoos von jungen Leuten die sich angelehnt an den Kalinga und anderen polynesischen und philippinischen traditionellen Stammes-Tätowierungen orientieren und wundervolle neue Kunstwerke auf ihren Körpern erschaffen haben.Falls es von Interesse sein sollte: Die Gruppe die im letzten Kapitel und auf dem Cover abgebildet ist, nennt sich "Mark of the 4 Tribes", die ist einfach übers Internet zu finden und der Autor vom Buch Lars Krutak ist der "Tattoo Hunter".Man kann sich auch bei Youtube die komplette Folge anschauen wie er das erste mal mit den Kalinga in Berührung kommt und anfängt zu recherchieren und sich sogar ein traditionelles Tattoo stechen lässt.

Gut recherchiert, hochwertig gehalten und wir enorm massiv das Buch ist kann man wirklich erst mit diesem Schwergewicht in der Hand realisieren

Interessante monografia illustrata sui tatuaggi di questa popolazione filippina. Il volume è molto grande, un cosiddetto "coffee table book ", ma ciò che lo differenzia è il contenuto.

è molto difficile trovare libri sui tatuaggi kalinga. questo ha tutte le caratteristiche che cercavo. un bel librone illustrato...peccato non sia in italiano!
