Nice kit but be careful with measurements
I'm impressed with the quality of components. Very robust thick steel bar, good sized wheels and components. Very satisfied with the final installation, and it gives my shed door a nice look. Took about two hours to install.Documentation was incorrect or incomplete, so taking one star away. I hope these notes help:1. Steel hanger (mount on door to hold rollers) hole locations. Be sure to check the mounting hole dimensions, don't just follow the instructions. The instructions illustrate 21 different hanger styles and none of them matched the hole pattern of the hangers shipped with my door. I foolishly drilled holes per instructions rather than first double-checking that my hangers actually match the printed instructions. When I went to mount them the hole closest to top of door was OK but the bottom hole was about 1" further away. I had to re-drill the bottom holes. Luckily the hanger hides the original hole.2. Diameter of hanger mounting holes in door. The instructions say to use a 3/8" bit. I found that this is a friction fit with the provided 10mm bolts - I had to screw the bolts into the door from the back when mounting. Great to know they are nice and tight, but using 13/32" bit would be simpler to install.2. Purpose and mounting location of anti-jump pads. The instructions do not describe why these exist. I discovered that their purpose is block the door from jumping off the track if the door is lifted, by shortening the distance from the top of the door to the bottom of the rail. This prevents the door from being able to lift out of the floor guide. The pads must be mounted so when rotated so they protrude from the outside of the door they do not touch the rail when the door is lifted into place. Rotate them around and now they interfere, preventing the door from jumping off the track. Be sure to mount these close enough to the edge of the door that they can work correctly. On my 1-1/2" thick door I had to mount them 1/4" away from the front edge. My original 1/2" mounting was too close to the middle of the door.3. Crown nut vs. open nut. My kit shipped with crown nuts (with a closed top) for the steel hanger fastening bolts. However, even though the description says the kit fits 1-3/8 to 1-3/4" doors, the bolts are too long for the crown nuts to work with my 1-1/2" thick door - they do not tighten before hitting the bottom of the crown. I had to make a trip to the hardware store to buy open nuts. Note: the thread is 10mm x 1.5mm coarse, a somewhat unusual thread pattern here in my corner of the USA - be sure to bring one of the bolts with you to match. I bought nylock nuts so they won't loosen on me over time.4. Position of rail. Be sure to factor in the amount of door edge you want to protrude over the jamb when the door is closed. I failed to do this and was lucky that the steel hanger mounting 2" in from the door edge provided sufficient overhang. I realized this right after I finished mounting the rail, and was nervous until I actually put the door on the shed. Not a complaint about documentation, but something you need to consider in planning the rail mounting hole location.5. Junction plate presence or absence. The instructions say the 8' single-door kit does not come with a junction plate; actually it does. This is not a complaint as I'm glad they provided a secure way to join the two 4' sections; just a note. Actually I see now that the instructions show the 8' track as a single track so there is the confusion. Some here have complained about the junction between the tracks but mine roll over it as if there is no junction at all.Another note: The installation requires a 5/16" x 3/4" slot be cut in the bottom of the door for the floor guide. Not easy to find, so make sure you factor in that you need this. I bought a 5/16" straight router bit and created a jig so I could route the slot, but found this difficult. If I mount barn doors on other projects I will get a slot cutting bit instead. Just know that the slot depth will probably only be 1/2" (most slot cutting bits show that as their maximum depth). The 1/4" shallower depth should not be a problem; just mount the floor guide a bit lower.
