It is usefull
I have a 9cfm, 110psi, 2hp black and decker compressor, it handles this tool, but it is the limit. You have to get used to it first, and learn how it works at first.First to clean below the wall to collect all the mortar, because it throws a lot.Second, you charge it with mortar, and after wet the surface of the wall, start in just one direction. I've found that it is best to start from the top quarter of the wall (dividing the work in 4 quarters), and start spraying from below to the top of those quarters, letting the air compressor recover its force, and also help when you charge it with mortar. And working by layers according to the depth of your work.Having all of this in mind, the tool is usefull and saves you hard work.

Gotta get ya one!!!
Great tool. When empty it is heavy and when full of mud it is HEAVY! However, I am convinced I will never wear it out because of the quality of build and I will NEVER go back to hawk and trowel!!! My coworker and I swap duties at end of each wheelbarrow. This obviously is not a desk job but swapping out duties seems to work well for us. The speed at which you can place material is incredible. If you decide to give this tool a try be sure to get a high volume air compressor. It is not fair to the tool to starve it and expect great things. On the other hand, if you are a rock sculptor or some other low volume crafts person, you may be satisfied to wait for your small compressor to catch up. Either way, the TOOL is top quality and built to last. Do your part: rest tool in bucket of water and pull trigger to 'clean' while you are breaking. Clean well when storing. Easy to do and well worth the effort. Good luck

Not for surface bonding cement
The tool splattered out gobs that were too big for the 1/8 inch coat required for surface bonding cement. It also dribbled a lot of the product.

no easy way out of it
wasn't worth the money $$$$ I actually bought a compressor that should've worked based on material details about CFM ratings etc, but the CFM rating is still not enough. i'm going to try and coupling two compressors together to make it work, but i'm not too optimistic. definitely wish i had avoided original purchase at this point. I've come to the realization that concrete work is just tough, no easy way out of it, trowel it on and keep going...

One word: Production
This thing is a beast! I've gained years of my life back. Im a decorative stucco(Lime,Venetian plasters) contractor. this thing saves me so much time it's retarded. May take a couple times to get an ideal consistency for material. Make sure your prep is good & with two or more people you're making money. For now I use a crappy 30gallon compressor with gerbil on a wheel for a motor & between the down time for troweling it works just fine with the small jets.Products usedDrywall mud, Vasari plasters, concrete & concrete micro toppings. Great with all
