Better option
We’ve been trying to stay within the recommended sodium daily allowance due to medical issues. This brand has the best lower sodium soups we’ve found. I was excited to see these refried beans in a lower sodium variety. Tried them and immediately ordered them in bulk. The BEST refried beans from a can I’ve ever had. I don’t normally like refried beans but I genuinely love these.

avoids excessive salt
The refried beans I find at my grocery store have about 500-600mg of sodium per 1/2 cup serving, if not more. Given that the USRDA recommended limit for sodium is 1500mg or 2300mg (depending on your risk category), a couple of servings quickly use up most of the limit.I was glad to find Amy's "light in sodium" products--I bought the refried black beans. These reduced-sodium refried black beans are tasty and, according to the can, have 220mg per serving, which I find much more reasonable. (I gather Amy's regular refried black beans are 440mg, which is still below most competitors.)The Amy's of course are also organic--a nice bonus, although of course it raises the price. It would be nice if conventional brands also offered low-sodium options, but until then I plan to be buying a lot of these Amy's. I heartily commend Amy's for offering "light in sodium" versions of a number of their products.

Tasty and wholesome
I’ve always liked Amy’s food. Their refried beans are for me, just the right consistency for my burritos. I also appreciate that they have low sodium products as well

Tasty! and affordable on autoship
It almost seems silly to me to write a review on refried beans, but having recently started on the "4 Hour Body" slow-carb diet we are eating a lot of them. My wife has always favored mexican food, and the typical store-brand or name-brand refried beans smelled and tasted, well, not good. I would usually comment while preparing dinner that they looked exactly how I remembered canned dog food looked when I was feeding my dog as a kid, and smelled the same as well. So that's how we found Amy's, and I have to say they're the first refried beans that I actually enjoy eating. However in the retail stores they are around $3.20/can where I live with a slight discount for a case. I ordered these online and signed up for the monthly autoship since we eat them several times a week now, and the cost was around $27/case of 12, free shipping. I've tried a few other organic brands but to me Amy's still wins. Note that the low-sodium version has half the sodium as the regular version, and this seems to hold true for all of their low-sodium canned beans. The Organic black beans are also very good, better in fact to my palate.

Tasty
Our family loves these beans. They have less saturated fat than other brands and the taste is amazing. My husband switched to these several years ago and we can't go back. I personally also enjoy Amy's various other flavors of refried beans. This brand is on the pricier side but for us the quality is worth the price point. It's also nice to have a bulk option via Amazon.

Another awesome Amy's product
This is THE BEST refried beans on the market today. Don't let the "with green chiles" part scare you. They are not hot or spicy, the chiles impart a subtle flavor. The beans are smooth and creamy, not pasty or gritty like the other grocery store brands. Even my 5 and 2 year olds love the quesadillas and burritos and nachos we make with Amy's refried beans. And along with delicious flavor, you get Amy's commitment to organic and vegan products. No GMO's and no MSG. You wont feel guilty about feeding your family anything from Amy's.I did find Amazon's price to still be cheaper than my local natural grocery store. Buy a can from your grocer to try it before you order a case.Side note: Amazon is not packaging these right, these come in a shrink-wrapped cardboard tray of 12 cans. Amazon simply throws this case into a larger box only with 2 or 3 air pillows as padding! On my first shipment 8 cans were dented! Amazon quickly shipped me out another case, but this time only 4 were dented.Amazon figure out some better packaging for your canned goods!!!

DO NOT BUY
I have ordered Amy's refried black beans before and really liked them. I opened a can today and the color, smell and taste were horrid. Tasted spoiled. Only two small dents on cans compared to others receiving multiple dented. Will try to get a refund. So disappointing and a waste of money. It said it was refundable or replaced and now under policy it isn't. Amy's never again for anything.
