arrived not working, had to fix it.
UPDATE:I've since bought a second one. Same problems. The wires used internaly are so thin that when flashlight feels warm on the outside the wires are very hot. The ones I have get hot enough to burn finger tips and melt the plastic where spring contacts are.Switch stopped working after a few times using it. Sometimes you can play around pushing sideways on the swith to get it working again. There's enough play in how the circuit board is mounted that holds the switch to allow it to move forward and back some, thus causing the switch button to hang up on the flash light body. Mine is stuck in on position. I gave up playing with it and just removed the battery pack when not using it. But then used parts to repair first one that I modified the switch on. New switch works great with good tactile feel and a clicking sound when pushed.I tried buying a battery holder for the one that melted in first flashlight but the cost of it with shipping was much more expensive then the whole flashlight(and with free shipping). The extra LED module I used to replace a work light above kitchen sink using a small 6V transformer and a bridge rectifier, a modified face plate, and one of those things that screw into a light bulb socket that adapts to a two prong plug. Also had in line fuse holder with 0.25 amp fuse between transformer and plug. I screwed in the plug adapter to light socket, plugged in 2 prong plug (from old extension cord) and attached faceplate holding everything to light fixture. Since nothing was changed on original light fixture it can still be used with original light bulbs simply by unscrewing adapter and screwing origianl bulb back in and use original face plate.I think I'll buy another and modify it to plug into the 12V plug in the car (or riding mower) and have a hand held work light using 18 gauge speaker wire for a power cord and a voltage regulator to drop voltage down to 6 volts (or maybe use two 100 LED in series and forget about voltage regulator. Would be great for a dark night when changing a tire or ....I wonder if anyone else uses this flashlight as a kit for other things.FIRST REVIEW:The pluses: metal body, very bright light, white light and beam seems even. Everything I wanted in a light.Several problems. 1st: the battery pack didn't make contact with batteries. The little metal foil between each set of battery pairs was bent, had to flaten them out and then battery pack worked. I say "foil" because it's so thin it bends very easy making replacing batteries a delicate procedure, can't just "slap" some batteries into the pack. 2nd: the switch stopped working the 4th time I depressed it. What I did: I had an old 6V (those large square battery) flashlight and using a kitchen saw knife cut the switch out of the 6V light and with some modification to the 100 led flashlight replaced the switch. The switch is mounted to a small circuit board and slides into groves on the part the battery pack makes contact with, which is held in place by a large C ring (removes easily with needle nose plyers). Cut away some of the plastic above the slot, but not the slots (new switch is larger)so the new switch will fit through it, but not the circuit board slot (If new switch is thin enough you can discard the old switch from it's circuit board and slide it back into it's slots to support new switch). New switch was a little long so had to bend the raised plastic area where the nuts sits (easy with needle nose plyers)slide plastic part back into flashlight put new switch in (push hard and with a small flat screw driver pry against back edge of new switch forcing it into place. It snapped into place, and I don't think it can ever be removed easily. Replace contact springs and C ring and solder wires to new switch. New switch is held in place without any nuts or screws holding it (new switch was a press fit in old flahlight it came from, so no threads for nuts). 100 led flashlight now has a switch with very positive action to it and audable click, and works and keeps on working. 3rd: while you at it might as well use bigger gauge wire, whats in it seems too thin and gets hot, but seems to work (power loss?). IF each led uses 20mA that makes 2 amps total, seems a lot for those wires (but I don't know the leds specs, could be less?).4th: Rubber handle stinks! get rid of it.For $15 and free shipping it's worth it for the LEDs and case and parts. I would get again but buy a switch for it that's threaded. Lost power so had nothing to do for the day was done all with hand tools. All said and done I would consider this as a kit of parts missing a switch and wires.Unless you are lucky and get one that works.

Works good enough now, was messing up before
When I first tried it, it kept messing up. When turned on it would flash but couldn't keep the light on, even though I could see a red dot under the bulbs. This product is made out of basic parts and put together clumsily. I was going to give it one star and take it back, but all of a sudden it started working half decently, so I guess it's fine now. This product is unreliable, so I wouldn't really trust it camping, but it's good for around the house. It's probably worth the risk to buy it. If yours doesn't work you can send it back and get a replacement. This flashlight might have the most LED bulbs for the price, if you're looking for that sort of feature. All LED flashlights are super bright and so I wouldn't recommend that kids be allowed to play with them and shine them in people's eyes, especial not this large and bright flashlight. So I agree this flashlight is really bright, which is what many people are looking for.Like other reviews I agree that the handle smells badly, and if you take the rubber sleeve off it will be sticky. Read other reviews, even people that give this like 4 stars say they had to repair it. I paid $15 for mine; maybe $20 isn't worth the hassle.

damn bright
I bought two of these to light up my campsite in the desert (no more Coleman propane lantern). All the other folks with regular flashlights or expensive headlamps were caught off guard when I turned it on. It's bright! It does chew batteries - both the batteries AND the metal casing around the LEDs run warm (but not hot) to the touch - but if you want lots of light you can't expect batteries to last forever. The 4 AA batteries are in a holder that slides into the handle and provides 6 volts to the switch. If you're handy with tools and solder, you could adapt this quite easily to run on 6V lantern batteries. That's my next project! A diffuser would be nice for area lighting (like a picnic table) instead of the beam the LEDs put out by default. It's not tight focus. If you want to spotlight a very distant object, get one with a lense. On the other hand, no lense and LEDs recessed in a metal grid mean you can set it down anywhere and not scratch the business end.

Excellent, smooth, broad, bright beam. However, a bit fragile.
100 LEDs create a beam that is bright, smooth (No shadows in the beam), broad but doesn't go far. I am a security guard and I use this flashlight for my walking around flashlight. The beam is intended for area coverage and not to light up a spot far away. I use a "Guard Dog Security HALO" light, bought from Amazon for that. It is great for that. I bought one four years ago, the swith broke, so I took it apart to replace the switch. I recently ordered on for my wife and it arrived not working. I took it apart and found a wire had not been properly soldered to the circuit board. Fixed it in a couple of minutes. The internal construction has changed to make it more rugged than the earlier models.Yes it does drain batteries rather quickly, so I use only rechargables and put in freshly charched batteries at the begining of a shift.
