but they were comfortable. The nuts and bolts that hold the headphones ...
My old Radio Shack race scanner headphones had developed a short last year after 15 years of use and had to be replaced so I took a chance with these. They were not the cheapest pair on Amazon (about twice + the price of the cheapest) but not the most expensive. I don't know why, but I kinda expected them to arrive in a retail package, they didn't. They were sealed in a plastic bag and put in a shipping box with large bubbled bubble wrap. No big deal. They were well packed. Besides, I didn't buy them for the retail box, I bought them to listen to the drivers, the trackside announcer, and the public broadcast of the race. They performed very well both at delivering quality sound and blocking outside noises. The adjusting straps that go across the top of your head are of a lesser quality than I expected but they worked well and that's what matters most providing they last. The elasticized material holding the ear pads to the headphones had somewhat of a sloppy looking fit as if they were designed and made by a DIY home seamstress, but they were comfortable. The nuts and bolts that hold the headphones to the rigid spreader bar going across the back of your head are exposed and that give the headphones an unfinished look. I guess for the price I expected a better-looking product but all in all they performed well and were comfortable. Now if they only last as long as my old Radio Shack headphones.

Not loud enough for nascar
I bought these to wear to Bristol Motor Speedway, not loud enough to hear my scanner. My old Radio Shack set are way louder and cancel more noise

Race Scanner headphone worked great!
The normal headsets you see for racing will cost at least $60 or more with 25db noise cancellation. These were rated at 20db and only about $40. I used them at 2013 Irwin Tools Night race at Bristol and they were fantastic. The only draw back was the headset fit very tight on your head and hurt your temples. I had to try to stretch them out to loosen their death grip and that seemed to work. Other than that issue, I would recommend this product. They worked great at a great price.

Radio Shack Race Scanner Headphones
This is a good item for the price I paid. Had a set already and was specifically looking for this style at a good price. The only thing I would suggest to manufacturer is that there is volume adjustment for both sides. Sometimes you need a little more amplification of the scanner broadcast vs. outside noise. Would not pay over 20.00 for this model new. Like the behind the head aspect to wear with sun hats for uv protection. Would not go back to over the head sets limited head protection to go over the bracket.

Great headset for the money, before price doubled ...
My second set as a back up, but my first set is still working fine after a year of commercial use on a tour boat. Rained on daily in summer. Great find for me!2019- new year and I guess that means new price. A year ago and years before that these were just under $30, I bought many of them for airboat captains at a large tour boat company (20 boats). I'm investigating other brands.
