Make The Noise Go Away: The Power Of An Effective Second-In-Command
R**.
Excellent book for the CEO / COO relationship
The story format is a bit hokey and feels a bit forced but the lessons are excellent, practical, spot on, thorough, and actionable. Excellent book for both CEO's and COO's in establishing the right relationship.

Good start
Good takeaways and tools though the hiring part is very thin. I'd recommend Top Grading as a better hiring format.

Don't let you business run you
This book is awesome; as an entrepreneur, I found that my business was running me. I found it difficult to delegate responsibilities. I found out that I needed a second in command. Someone that could allow me to focus on the direction of the business instead of the day-to-day activities. This book helped define the roles of my second in command as well as my role as CEO. Well worth the read.

Solid concepts, poor painting of women and characters in general
While the core of the content is solid (and well worth the read), be prepared for 1950's treatment of wives and marriage, which is disconcerting in what purports to be a business book. The fictional characters are painfully simplified and it's hard to read because of that as well. However, the overall concepts seem solid and I'm eager to try them out.

CEOs - There is a Better Way to Run Your Business!
Dear CEO -There is a better way to running your business than with you micromanaging and frustrating your employees. If you:- Feel stuck, frustrated, overwhelmed, out of control, or unhappy in your professional and / or personal life- Haven’t taken a vacation in years- “Hit the ceiling” in business growth - can’t grow any more with your current team- Need professional management because family members won’t cut it anymore- Are spending too much time working IN THE BUSINESS vs. ON THE BUSINESS......then you MUST read this book!

Good ideas
Another CEO recommended this book to help determine what is needed from a key support person. I thought the ideas were excellent, but I do not like the story-type book format (like Ken Blanchard), which takes twice the time to read. In my view make the point and skip the useless stories. But the ideas were good.

Great investment of a couple of hours
I've coached hundreds of business owners. Finding a good second in command is the toughest and most impactful thing they can do, but there is almost nothing on the market to help them do it. Two different friends 1500 miles apart gave me copies of MTNGA in the same week, so it obviously is hitting a sweet spot in my industry.I'm not a fan of the allegory format, and admittedly started reading with some skepticism. The points are well made, and critical to any key executive relationship. Anyone who is a first-in-command, a second-in-command, or a first-in-command who would like to have an effective second-in-command owes it to himself or herself to invest a couple of hours in this book.
