The best robot vacuum! Worth every penny!!
I bought this ECOVACS deebot ozmo 920 on the Black Friday day from amazon with 50% discount. This is one of the best deal I got for one of the best product. ECOVACS has demonstrated how the available technology can be integrated together delivering a great product. Amazon promised to deliver in a weeks time but actually was delivered in 5 days. It was nicely packaged to avoid any damage during shipping so amazon gets credit for the price and shipment. The robot has a great finish and looks like made with a quality material. The quick start guide was very easy to follow and I downloaded the ECOVACS home iOS app after scanning the barcode on the robot.Followed the instructions on the app and connected to the wifi. It only works with 2.5 GHz wifi frequency. I have an Apple router and it has both 2.5 and 5 GHz so got connected within seconds. 2.5 GHz can penetrate the walls better than 5 GHz and the robot needs wifi connection to do its job therefore ECOVACS supports only 2.5GHz.The first cleaning cycle created a complete map of the house. The map is very accurate and you can see the robot inside the app moving on the floor in real-time. There are lot of features in the app. Following options are available in the app for starting the cleaning cycle.Auto: it cleans the whole house in a single cycle.Custom: you can create a custom area on the map with your fingers and it cleans only that area. I use this feature to clean a hallway entrance which gets dirty with the dirt from footwear. You can use whatever custom area you need and get it cleaned.Area: To use this feature you need to first divide your home into different rooms or sections and then you can just select that area or areas and it will clean in the selected orders. E.g. I have created areas like living room, dining area, kitchen, kid’s rooms, bedroom, bath, etc.It also has a mopping capability and the way ECOVACS has designed it is really worth appreciating. It comes with a small water tank to which a mopping plate can be attached with a cleaning cloth. The whole assembly of water tank along with the mopping plate and it’s cleaning cloth can be snapped under the robot while doing a vacuum on hard floor. The mopping feature is obviously only relevant for hard floors so the robot doesn’t go on the carpet once it has mopping plate installed. My house is mostly carpet with tile floor in the kitchen and bathroom. So usually I keep mopping plate removed from the robot and let it vacuum the carpet area first. Whenever I need to clean the hard floor, the robot can be summoned to that area and mopping plate along with water tank can be snapped in once the robot arrives in that area. It needs to be paused for the same and then cleaning can be resumed once the water tank along with the mopping plate is snapped in. The water output can be controlled through the app.Coming to the most important task of vacuuming, the suction is powerful and it’s able to suck all the dust and debris from the carpet or hard floor. The robot automatically adjusts the suction power for carpet vs hard floor. It navigates along the selected area in a systematic way. First it does the cleaning around the walls or edges and then goes in straight lines covering the selected area. I haven’t experienced any missing spot so far. The app has a feature to schedule cleaning for different areas in a given sequence. The dust container is enough if you are cleaning 2-3 times a week else you may need to empty the container during the cleaning cycle. The cleaning can be paused and resumed again either from the button on the robot or from the app.It has a strong battery which can run for 110 minutes. If it runs out during cleaning, the robot goes to the charger and once fully charged resumes the cleaning exactly from the same spot.I experienced an excellent service from ECOVACS support team. If you have any specific questions or issues support team can be contacted through chat or message function from the app itself and I got prompt response from them. The only problem you may face if you have a floor with black design or so. I have a area rug which has a black borders and it was avoiding that area because the sensors thought it has a step. The support team suggested to put an aluminum foil over the sensors and that worked. Since I don’t have any steps it works for me. However, it can be issue. The robot also provide audio feedback while cleaning. It works with Alexa or google home too . I have an apple HomePod so haven’t used this feature. Hope ECOVACS can provide support for Siri/ Apple home as well.Overall my experience is very good with this model which has saved me and my wife from pain of vacuuming on our own. The house is getting cleaned more frequently and it feels great.Thank you ECOVACS and Amazon!Do not look for any other robot vacuum just buy this one.

Lidar stopped working after 1 day
I really, really wanted this thing to work. It did amazingly well in its first run. Mapped the entire house, cleaned extremely thoroughly, and found its way back to the dock with no problem. I was able to edit the house map to block off my barstools that vacuums always get stuck on. I was omg, finally! The perfect vacuum! But then the problems started. It disconnected from wifi and didn't run the next day at its scheduled time. I reconnected it and manually started it. But it didn't use the existing house map, and got stuck on the darn barstools. And jt was trying to remap the house, but the lidar stopped working after about 1.5 rooms. I manually ran it again, and no lidar. I reset it, and still zero lidar. I contacted support, and they told me to reset it again. Still no lidar. They offered to have me send it back in for repairs, but that's not worth the time. I'll just buy a new one and hope that one isn't defective.

"I'm starting to clean"
"I'm starting to clean", I heard a voice whisper breathlessly, penetrating the fog of my fatigue induced slumber. I knew it couldn't be my spouse. I was dozing on the couch after a long, colorful day of Covid-19 work from home (WFH). Upon hearing her suggestive assertion, I rolled over to peer at my son, who had been cutely/incessantly whispering "Pew pew pew", surrounded by a sea of Lego Star Wars. "Watch out," I mumbled. "Roomba is going to suck up all those legos if you don't move them", I parented. He paused and said, "This isn't Roomba, daddy. This is Deebot!" He reminded me that Deebot 920 had the capability to program "no fly" zones via a handy app, so no separate units were needed to "block out" areas with precious legos. I rolled over just in time to see the Deebot veer away from my son's playroom, dutifully following the map it had scanned of the second floor of our townhouse, using its 3.0 laser navigation system. It was day 30+ of the shelter in place orders, so the entire house was a mess, actually. I idly considered whether I needed to move Deebot downstairs to clean up after a small party we had had a few days ago (don't worry, everyone yelled at each other from 6 feet away, and the NP swabs from testing still lay disgustingly outside our front door). Since Deebot had multi-floor mapping, all I would need to do is relocate it and let it scan the new environment before it recognized the other floor map.I marveled at how Deebot varied her suction power (get your mind out of the gutter, please) as she rumbled across hardwood and on to the carpet under our dining room table, sucking up cheerios, potato chips, and rice bits on the floor. She automatically adjusted for the difference in surfaces, reducing power (and volume) if unnecessary. I was able to hear our Alexa chiming an alarm as she continued on her way, reminding me it was bath time. I asked Alexa to cancel vacuuming and Deebot cycled down and started making its way back to her charging cradle.I was impressed at how reliable Deebot had been over the past 6 months, logging over 50 hours of service and thousands of square feet cleaned. The app control, multi-floor mapping capability, intelligent navigation, dual swiping hands and easy to empty dust bin had made our lives much cleaner during the shelter in place order."I'm starting to charge", she declared. I was thankful for her robot work, and I think you will too if you have a smaller multifloor townhome, a kid with too many legos, and the Covid-19 blues (leading to unnecessarily floral reviews). Highly recommended!
