A Truthful Review From A First Time Flyer
I just wanna' start by saying this "plane" is awesome! There are a few minor faults, but on the whole this thing is a ton of fun! The ups: 1. Incredibly maneuverable! The "drone" mode really allows you to take your time in learning how to control your craft at differing speeds. During a week of rain I was able to practice in my bedroom! My bedroom! When I finally got it out into the great outdoors, I could turn on a dime. The "vertical flight mode" is basically just a gimmick, and is pretty limited to just a nose-up hover that can pivot (spin) on it's axis. I have not tried the "airplane" mode yet, as it fly's incredibly fast in that mode, which my 60-year old reflexes & heart can't handle just yet. And the full-on, no-gyro assisted balls-to-the-walls "acrobatic" mode (the ominous red button on the top right-hand side of the handheld transmitter)? I will probably never use it. Way too scary for me! But it's there if I ever feel brave. The transmitter itself is actually a very nice piece of technology! Led information screen, quick pairing with plane and excellent safety features make it a very nice little radio! The plane itself is very resilient to crashes, and parts are readily available for really fair prices. The Downs: 1. The battery charger included with the plane is trash. It will ruin your batteries! The instructions state that a steady red light will indicate charging, while a green light will indicate charge is complete. No such green light exists, and this charger WILL overcharge your batteries and ruin them! And as if that wasn't bad enough, nowhere in the instructions or on-line can anyone decide exactly how long it actually takes to charge the battery, so you can't even time the charge to determine when it's full. If you absolutely HAVE to use the included charger, only charge your batteries for no more than 1 hour. A half an hour more will cook the battery. I bought a really nice charger for $50 bucks that takes care of batteries like they were it's children! Balanced charging, discharging, storage charge, times, temps, the works. It's the best investment you'll make in the hobby! My flight times went from 5 minutes on the included charger to 15 minutes with the new charger. 2. The internal gears of the servos are plastic, and very vulnerable to getting striped-out on crashes. They can be easily swapped-out with metal-geared ones for about $30 bucks for all 3. 3. Buy extra propellers! The front 2 propellers are extremely vulnerable to breakage! They are the first thing to grab the ground or a tree branch! They are the most vulnerable piece of this craft. As they clip stuff, you will start to see stress-marks close to the hub. If one breaks in flight, you will have zero control of the craft. Don't chance a questionable prop! The right & the left front blades are different ("A" & "B" up-front and the rear blade is a "B"). The plane comes with 1 replacement set. You can buy 4 sets for $11 bucks, but they come from China and take a month to get here! So buy them when you buy the plane and you'll only have to wait half that time. 2. Check the screw-on domed hubs that hold the propellers to the motors! One un-spun itself in flight and went winging through the air! Luckily I was 2 feet off the ground and didn't wreck the craft. Use the included Allen wrench. Stick it through the hole in the hub, hold the motor casing below it with the other hand and spin Allen wrench/hub to tighten, REMEMBER, the "A" hub spins in the opposite direction of the "B" hubs and are threaded in the opposite direction. To figure it out, firmly turn one way and if it doesn't loosen, try going firmly in the opposite direction. One way will give, the other not. Check every-so-often before flying. I put a little removable LocTite on mine as insurance. Conclusion: This is a great way to get into Radio-control flight, with plenty of growth potential as your skills improve! The kit is complete with everything you need to get started flying except for the 6 AA you need for the transmitter. If you buy a much better battery charger (which I highly recommend) you can be up-in-the-air for $200 bucks total! And basically you have 3 different planes (capable of thrust-vectoring!) in your hanger, just waiting for your skills to catch-up to the waiting challenge! It really is a great value, and a butt-load of fun & excitement! Later down the line I will mount a camera & transmitter ($65 bucks) and I will be able to fly POV (point-of-view) with my phone as the monitor! Great plane, forgiving learning-curve, great value, readily available parts, & ease-of-use make this the only choice in getting started in RC flight! BUY THIS PLANE!

Arrived in used condition with missing parts -obviously been repaired
This is a really cool UAV but cheaply built. It has plastic servos which don't last long. One crash landing trashes the propellers which are unique and not easy to get. The engine assemblies on the wings are cheap plastic which also break very easily on a mild crash. This one was purchased as new but arrived with one of the tail sections missing, missing right propeller and cap for fastening the the propeller. The nose also obviously had been broken off and re-attached. This is my second one (and last) and fun to fly but short lived.

Why can't I give this 5 stars?
I can't give this product 5 stars only because the manual is so hard to read. I understand that it can be difficult to translate things for small businesses especially with Asian languages, but this manual is something else. I even find a bit of "engrish" funny and endearing, but this manual is just difficult to understand. Please, GoolRC-WLtoys-XK-Innovations, go on fiver and hire someone to translate this manual better for you. Otherwise, this product is simple, fun, and almost elegant in its design. Its very easy to fly and durable enough to perfectly survive the few small crashes I've had already. The vertical flying mode is a great party trick to show people and the battery warning gives piece of mind. This is a no brainer recommendation for anyone who wants to get a first taste of everything RC planes and drones can offer in one affordable package.

Lots of fun and easy to fly.
This airplane is a lot of fun! I am a very experienced RC flyer but I would recommend this for anyone over 12years old. It is very easy to fly in “drone” mode and also in vertical hover. When you adjust the switch to airplane mode it does speed up and requires a lot more space to fly it in. It did get my adrenaline going the first time I switched it to flying mode. If it becomes to scary you can switch it back into drone mode and regain your composure:). It is a small and light plane which makes it suitable as a park flyer but only in calm ( light wind ) conditions. As you get used to it you will be able to do a lot of aerobatics and 3D flying.

Googled Elroy’s xk x450 rc airplane
I had bought one and when I took it out of the box I was impressed with how it was made and how it looked. I plugged in the battery to charge it and realized that the charger doesn’t have an automatic shut off so you have to keep an extra good eye on it. After the battery was charged I turned on the transmitter and then plugged in the battery. I armed the Esc’s and when I throttled up nothing happened. When I moved the elevon stick nothing works. No elevon or elevator at all. I contacted Goolrc and went back and forth with them over email for the next 4 or 5 days. They had me make a video of the x450 and upload it to YouTube so they could see what was happening. They then offered to give me 8.00 usd as compensation and told me to keep it instead of replacing the x450 with something that works. I’m still stumped on the fact that they wanted to give me only 8.00 on something that I paid 169.99 for. And telling me that they couldn’t help me with it. Their customer service sucks. And their tech support is non existent. I would much rather had have a working product than to be treated as if I don’t know anything about rc equipment or aircraft. I have been designing and scratch building and flying rc for more than 40 years. Goolrc sucks and I will do my best to discourage people from wasting their money with this company
