Torah How It is Meant to Be
Below is my review concerning Onkelos on Torah and Understanding Onkelos from Rabbis Dr's. Israel Drazin and Stanley Wagner.I purchased Understanding Onkelos because of my studies with Rabbi Dr.Israel Drazin's and Rabbi Dr.Stanley Wagner's other exegesis, Onkelos on Torah. My Torah studies have centred on the latter for two years having recently acquired Devarim, the final book in the series. I cannot emphasis the importance of all of these books in understanding the nature of the universe and mans walk and purpose within it. They are a must for all Torah scholars and indeed would suggest for any academic curriculum.Understanding Onkelos continues to reveal the truth from every educational aspect. It covers Bible history, Biblical Hebrew and the true meaning of Onkelos and why his writings are so important; illustrating and comparing many religions, even sages who have added to or taken away from the truth. The emphasis is on the literal translation of the Hebrew text. Onkelos uses words and phraseology to make clearer the more misunderstood and difficult passages. The need for MIDRASH and indeed exactly what MIDRASH is, in keeping centred on the written Torah, this book goes through each Torah portion offering the discipline of Onkelos in keeping to understanding what is writtenRationale, is most certainly required in understanding nature and its creation by a Holy G-d HaShem. The Torah of Moshe, and to it, the proximity of Onkelos, Maimonides, the great sages of this world and to the present day sages such as Rabbi Dr.Drazin & Rabbi Dr.Stanley Wagner is only to clear and enlightening to behold. I am completely in awe at these mammoth literary undertakingsThe book is well bound also. The pages are very silky smooth and encouraging to hold and work with.Whoever you are and where ever you are, if you decide to enter into one of the classic Torah scholarships, or simply discover the truth then these books are a must and a blessing from aboveShalom Aleichem.......

Great Resource.
I am using this book in conjunction with other books which is a must. I don't know if this is the first book that a person should be looking at when reading the Chumush. I am studying something very specific and so I am very much enjoying the book and also the other books that are in the series. So, make sure you have taken enough classes from actual teachers where the deeper meaning of the text is explained to you. Once you're experienced enough and have a good knowledge of Hebrew is when you'll want to have this book. Otherwise you'll only gain superficial knowledge. In other words I have authentic teacher's lectures and other books that are in my head while going through this book and I think this is truly necessary. If you are experienced enough with the Chumush (you've gone through Me'am Loez, have an Interlinear translation nearby and also another competing Onkelos translation (Siftei Chachamim) then I would march forward. I really really appreciate having this book around.

A truly Scholarly work on the Targum of Onkelos
As a Hebrew scholar that studies and publishes epubs on Hebrew work I can tell you that this is the most accurate and complete work today in the English speaking world on this Targum. To this day every observant Israelite studies the Hebrew Parshah (portion....there are 54 ...1 for 54 weeks of the year. (lunar year). As I was writing we study the Parshah of the Torah twice each week and the Targum once. The Targum translation (other than the Hebrew) in any other language accompanies, in a particular language, the Hebrew of the Torah in Every printed edtion of the Torah or Chumash as it is also know for the number 5 (five books/seferium of Moshe). This is the best rendition of the Targum that I am presently aware of for English speaking people and also includes the Aramaic in the Hebrew text. Buy this one and you won't be disappointed. This is being written purely to convey my professional critique for this particular production of the Targum of Onkelos and was not solicited by anyone.

Scholarly work on Onkolos
Very scholarly book. Not a quick read. I found that reading the text then the expiation then reading Onkolos worked best for me. I thought the book would just encompass Onlolos but it includes other commentaries as well
