Good at first, short lifespan
I purchased this grinder about 9 months ago. At first, it did its job well and produced a really even grind, which can be dialed in very accurately if you're willing to waste a few beans to test the grind size. A downside inherent in most small hand-grinders is that the screw-based design prevents you from being able mark down a setting, which is not really an issue, just an annoyance.(Tip: don't clean it with water like it says. In my experience this caused coffee dust to cake and mess up the grind effectiveness. Grinding a bit of rice, disassembling the unit, and then brushing the burrs with an unused toothbrush works much better, if you don't mind a bit of work. I only had to clean it every month or so.)Starting at around 6 months into product life, the grinder began to yield very inconsistent grinds ranging from both espresso-fine powder to peppercorn size chunks within a single grind (at medium-fine setting). This is because the shaft in the middle has worn down to become unstable, and causes the inside burr to rock back and forth against the outside burr, meaning that larger grinds fall through wider openings, while some beans are ground a bit finer than you've set it. This noticeably affects the flavor of a pour-over (which requires even extraction), so for the last few months I've found myself running the grinds through twice for it to taste any good, meaning I'm in need of a new grinder. So, my verdict: if you're like me and really enjoy a small amount of carefully brewed coffee each day, this grinder is a great pick to hold you over for around half a year before you upgrade to a nicer electric grinder which runs at about 4x the price, but will probably last you around 4x as long (not speaking from personal experience, just observation of other people). If you're looking for something more long-term, save up a little and get something like the Bodum ( Bodum Bistro Burr Grinder, Electronic Coffee Grinder with Continuously Adjustable Grind, Black ) which I have used at my parents' house and am looking to get for myself.UPDATE: I received a refund, since apparently the grinder has a 12-month warranty which I was unaware of. While my opinion of the particular grinder I received is unchanged, my opinion of the company has certainly gone up. An extra star for great customer service.

For Turkish Coffee
I'd say this is more like a 4.5, but giving it 5 stars since it could be user error. Had this for about a week and have used it explicitly to grind coffee beans and cardamon together for Turkish coffee. Overall it does a great job of getting the fine, almost powder-like, grounds needed, though occasionally larger bits make it though, but not enough to really affect the quality too much (and I still get that "muck" found at the bottom of the cup when I'm done). Size is perfect, and the mill turns easily with little effort or strain needed to grind the contents. The handle can easily come off for easier storage too, and simply attaches by fitting onto a hex bit.

High quality, low price
Excellent for it's price point.Reasonably consistent grind and can to very fine grind for turkish/arabic coffee which was my main reason for purchasing. After about 1 month of daily (or twice daily) use seems sturdy and well built.Holds 2-3 cups worth of beans. Turning is easy and grind time reasonable, longer for finer grinds obviously. Slower than electric but the advantage is it's whisper quiet and won't over heat your beans (unless you can turn a crank at thousands of rpm). I thought the relative slowness and manual nature would restrict it's use to special times, but I find myself using it for my 1st of the morning pour over. By the time the water is heated the coffee is ground with enough to share and the quite crank is so much nicer than the buzz and whirr of a cheap electric (with better results too)On complaint is the knob to set the grind isn't indexed in any way so if you do change grinds it takes a bit of guess and check. Though if you bought one for each grind you use it's still significantly cheaper than an equivalently capable electric machine.

Great grinder and service
We bought this to replace our old blade grinder a couple years ago. It’s a little bit of a pain to take the time to turn the handle to grind but does a great job and is a nice size for storage in our packed cupboards. Takes a few minutes to grind about a half cup of beans and lets loose an amazing coffee smell through the kitchen. I sit and hold the canister between my knees to steady it. We considered an electric burr grinder but you have to pay a lot for a decent one and they take up so much room while this one does really well. We had a part that broke on it after 3.5 years of regular use and the company responded to my messages within hours which floored me. They sent me a replacement part immediately and it is working great again, in the same week. We were always really happy with it, but the customer service was the tipping point that made me take the time to make a review. It really is a great grinder.
