Good basic timer
This is a basic timer, but it's just what I was looking for. You can use it to count down (as in timing something in the oven), or count up (as in using a stopwatch to time a runner). There is a start/stop button that lets you pause the timer if needed. The red button lets you reset to zero. It has both a 5- and 10-minute warning, which beeps to let you know you're getting close to your chosen count-down time. The beep is loud enough to be heard in another room, but not across the house. The LED numerals are large and easy to read, and have enough contrast from the color of the background. It uses one AAA battery. There are three ways to stand or hang this timer: There is a clip that lets you clip it to something that isn't too thick. At the bottom of the open clip, you can fold out a small metal piece that creates a stand, so you can place it on a flat surface. And if you slide the clip out (push toward the bottom of the timer), you can use the two magnets on the back to hang it on your fridge or other metal surface. This timer does everything I bought it to do, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a basic timer.

Works as advertised, concerned about buttons
Ordered this for Christmas and it seems to be working fine. Numbers are bold and easy to read and setting/starting/stopping is easy. The red reset button works but seems to get stuck when pressed down. This hasn't caused any problems yet but will be keeping an eye on it.The 10 and 5 minute warnings are helpful but this option cannot be disabled. Alarm is moderately loud, enough to be heard a few rooms over with TV on.NOTES: The 5 and 10 minute warnings beep twice only. The alarm goes off until STOP is pressed when time is up. The timer only displays seconds when it is counting UP, when counting DOWN only hours and minutes are displayed.Overall I'm satisfied and would buy another

Simple and perfect for our use
One thing I've learned with timers is it is unfair to say you don't like a particular set of features because they weren't what you needed. While that may sound silly, its funny how specific a particular use is for each person. Of note, we are using this in a commercial kitchen environment and we're happy with its physical quality. Here is what this timer is good for:* Up to twenty hour countdown* It starts counting down hours & minutes, switching to minutes & seconds under one hour* Counts up as well* Easy reset of the clock to zero* Easy to add hours & minutes* Easy start & stop of countdownWhat it does not have:* Clock* No clock means no traditional alarm* Single countdown, not multipleIf these features are what you need, this is a great little timer. If not, don't buy it and then say its no good!

Pure Junk. Another Timer Bites The Dust.
I'm beginning to reconsider if we really landed men on the moon! Reliable and durable kitchen timers at almost any price are typically deeply flawed and these are fairly simply technology making them almost always overpriced! This one is junk. For this timer (purchased on Amazon in November 2012) here are the pros and cons:Pros:-Keeps accurate time-Indicates Hours, MinutesCons:-Failed for no apparent reason. Simply died and new battery does not get it working again. Timer was not abused.-Buttons difficult to use: easy to press but are scalloped and cut at an angle so you need to delicate or small fingers or you will be pressing more than one button at a time.-Does not reset back to time you sent once the alarm sounds! Most of my timers alert by sound and then continue counting so you know how much time has passed since the alarm rang. That would have been very useful.-Timer alarm is way too soft. Hard to hear over TV or radio.Buy something else. If it hadn't failed I'd still only have given it one star.

Does the job.
It does the job well and the alarm is not deafening but it doesn't have an on/off button. The only way to get the display to turn off is by taking the batteries out. It probably (hopefully) uses very little battery. I've had it on for about a month now...it's still on. Another thing I didn't quite like is that once the alarm goes off you have to press the button to stop the alarm and then again to stop the counter since it then starts counting time up.Update June 09-2013My one concern was battery life since it doesn't have an on/off button. It's still running on the same batteries.

Great, easy to use, nice features!
Perfect timer for my needs! I like how the buttons don't beep when you push them, except the "reset" button. I use it for timing schoolwork, and don't like distracting my children with the beeps. I don't use the magnet, so can't comment on that. The clip and stand are very convenient and easy to use. The features are nice... One push of "start" begins counting up (only counts up to 19 minutes and 59 sec., showing seconds and minutes, then it keeps counting but starts at zero again). Pressing "start" again pauses the count-up, and "start" will continue counting up where you left off. "Reset" stops the count-up and returns to zero. For the timer, you push the hour and minute buttons (up to 19 hours and 59 minutes), then start. The dots begin flashing each second so you know it's working, but it doesn't show seconds for the timer mode. If you want to pause the timer, you just press "start," then later press "start" to continue timing. It has a 10 minute "warning" beep (2 quick beeps-rest-2 quick beeps), and a 5 minute "warning" beep (4 quick beeps-rest-4 quick beeps). When time's up, it beeps (4 quick beeps-rest-repeat for 1 minute), and the setting goes back to zero. To stop the beeping and reset to zero, press "reset." To stop the beeping and begin counting up, press "start" (you can see how long something takes beyond what you were planning). It does not have a memory to recall your previous time set. Buttons are easy to push, it's nice!
