Sunday AfternoonsCruiser Hat

I hike about 15 miles a week and usually wear a baseball style running cap. I needed more sun protection but have not been able to find a hat that worked for me. I am a petite woman with a small head. Most sun hats are just too big and or are not vented and are too hot on sunny summer days. I ordered the Sunday Afternoons Cruiser hat expecting to be disappointed. I was not. The hat is light weight, well vented, has a wide but not too wide brim and it fits! Not dorky looking either. I have found the perfect sun hat. This hat does run on the small side because the medium fit me perfectly, and as previously stated, I have a small head. Those with average or larger noggins should probably order the large.

I was worried we might receive the folded up hat in an envelope that some of the other reviewers said they received (it causes permanent creases in the brim). Nope. If you get the envelope version, I say return it.This hat fits the large and medium heads in our house. I would say they don't come big at all-- they run somewhat small. Definitely a unisex hat. I like the strip of ventilation around the hat. The crown is all nylon and the strip of mesh around it giving ventilation is polyester... gives it a lightness and is guaranteed to keep your head cool. There is a pull-cord in the back you won't even notice to adjust the head size. All very well-made. It's a very light hat. Perfect for some outdoor activities. Also love the chin strap as it's pretty windy when we're out fishing.I think the only thing I would point out is that this color, Tan/Chaparral, looks maybe a shade or two darker tan/beige than the creamier look in the photo on the product page. So far, I would buy this product again.

One star because whoever packed my order was an incompetent arse who folded the hat in half to cram it into an envelope - thus breaking the wire brim and permanently creasing the hat in two places. Do better, Amazon. Hat returned and packaging feedback left as well. Will buy it direct from the manufacturer instead.

Very lightweight and brim is great. On the wider side for good sun cover, but not so wide it looks goofy :) Just right. Took off a star because it came lightly squished in a box. I've bent it almost completely straight now but there's still a permanent crease in one spot. Doesn't seem very forgiving in retaining it's shape. If you had any option to buy in person I'd rather recommend that instead because you never know by who or how it's going to be packaged.

I was worried that the hat may be folded in half in the shipping package. At least this time for me, it is packaged well. The fit and style are great. I took it on a mountain top and didn't get sun burn. The last time I was on a similar mountain without a hat, I got sun burn. Brim of the hat is not as rigid as the Charter hat, but it is good enough to hold its shape. Plus the back brim is wider than Charter and lighter. The brim provides me enough coverage without being floppy. The quarry color doesn't look like the Amazon photo. It is exactly like the photo on manufacturer website, which is what I hoped. This is the first sun hat I own. I foresee I would enjoy the company of this hat on many trips.

This is a sun hat that provides very adequate sun protection, UPF 50. The hat provides protection from the sun on the 3" front brim, 3" side brim and 4" brim on the back of the hat. The center top of the hat has mesh vents that move air at the top of the hat.It is a lightweight hat, but so far it is reasonably durable and stays on my head while running and playing tennis. Sunday Afternoons state that this hat has a lifetime warranty.For the price, the material construction and features, it is worth the purchase of under $30.00.This product is made in Vietnam.Jon Green

The hat arrived in 1 day in a flat envelope that was OK for the hat and brim. I'm returning the hat because it is so thin and flimsy. The brim is supported by a stiff wire or more likely a stiff plastic tube around the edge. This make is very hard to shape. The rest of the hat is very thin material that doesn't hold any shape. If you want a cheap dorky looking sun hat this will do. It doesn't look anything like the picture on the site. I can't understand why it has received so many 4 and 5 star reviews.

I am very please with this purchase after wearing it non-stop on a week long camping/kayaking trip. The material seems high-quality - substantial but lightweight - and the workmanship is very good. The brim (which floats!) is broad enough to provide good protection from sun and occasional rain. I was concerned that the color might be too light to stay clean but the stain and water resistance seem good - and I tested them during a very muddy camping trip! I do wish I had ordered a large rather than a medium, although I followed the size chart, measured my head, etc. The bucket of the hat is not quite as deep as I wish it were and a large might have helped. But overall, I am extremely pleased with this hat - it was an excellent value for the cost.

Light and comfortable. You will never own a better hat inyerms of protection and comfort

If you're ready to signal your transition from modish young person to older, wiser person who would trade style for sun safety, this is the hat for you. Strap that string all the way up to your chin so you can signal to passersby on the street that you don't care how you look now, but rather, how you look in your 80s, so that your skin isn't so leathery and cancerous.

Love it! It gives a greater protection to the back of the neck as the "rear visor" is larger. It's easy to wash. The fabric makes it difficult to get stains: I just washed a grease spot like it was nothing. It breathes so well: the top part is mesh fabric. Only detail: they should have named this hat the "Crocodile Dundee Hat": it's just that cool. It looks nice too: the "visor" all around stays firm and straight. I'm a contractor so I wear it all day everyday. It's like a good replacement to the T&lley hat.

This hat is solidly built, perfect for fishing. The rim is very large, especially in the back, perfect to reduce sunburn on the back of the neck. The attachment around your chin makes it perfect not to fly away by wind. One of the best quality built I could find on Amazon.ca.

It is well ventilated, drys quickly and maintains its shape while effectively blocking the sun. I use it for sailing and it is great for shading my eyes when looking for buoys when racing. The draw string is also fantastic for keeping it on my head in moderate to heavy winds while moving about the fore deck.
