Drain Line Adapter (DLA) with 3/8-inch Quick Connect Fitting for Reverse Osmosis filter (ET109-002, 9-38QC, DLA-9)

My son was able to replace old one with this easily.

The standard way that the RO drain is hooked up with the 1/4” hole drilled into the drain using the saddle clamp works ok until the biofilm (drain slime) plugs the drain hole. This may take months to happen but it will happen especially if it is down stream of a garbage disposal or in my case, the drain for a coffee bar (coffee grounds grow an especially nasty biofilm). We have been lucky to be home when it starts to make a mess all over the counter top and under the sink.This is the second drain adapter I have installed. The first one works perfectly with no biofilm plugging. Just make sure to install it so no sink drain water touches the 3/8” drain opening and it should be good for many years.

This is exactly what is needed for installing a 3/8" RO system drain line downstream of a garbage disposal. Easy installation to existing plumbing with the screw-on connections. Can be removed quickly for better under sink access for plumbing upgrades or repairs.

It worked, but not 100% in line with the directions.The original elbow on my disposal didn't extend as far away from the motor as the guide would sugest. I has to loosen the end of the p-trap and slide it closer to the wall.Also, check your disposal units dishwasher inlet. Mine is directly over the output and the r.o. connection would not fit in the suggested configuration. Since I had to slide the trap closer to the wall, I moved it as close as I could so the r.o. connection would clear the rubber boot for the dishwasher.

Easy install, quality product. Flawed design. RO drain is too close to disposal outlet, which will lead to RO drain clogging often. Once RO drain clogs on an air gap system, waste RO water leaks from air gap making a mess of your kitchen. Currently looking for another solution.
