Kaiju is an extraordinary, thoughtful, scary, sexy, entertaining new puzzle for Detective Dudek to piece together. Dudek gets better with each case. It is an enjoyable, and unpredictable read with a terrific ending. As with all of Leicinger's novels, it is timely, insightful, and ripe with unique imagery, pop culture references, witty repartee and plot. My favorite book of the summer. Read at your own risk.

First of all, I enjoyed the book. I have read the others and this one isn't going to make as much sense or be as enjoyable without knowing how Dudek (the main character) got to where he is. I don't think you're going to expect it to wind up where it does. In a good way. What makes it fun and sets it apart is the mash up of straight hard boiled detective/homicide story and science fiction. Basically putting together the most cynical genre with the most optimistic. kinda cool.It's also a fast read because it's the kind of story where I wanted to keep reading it and find out what happens next. But it really is connected to the previous stories so I think you need to read those too/first.
