Great compass! Very sturdy, perfect for wood work. The screw down knobs feel secure and don’t let your pencil slide out of place while using it. Keep in kind this doesn’t come with a pencil, but a standard #2 or mechanical pencil will work just fine The tip is really sharp and also doesn’t let the compass slide out of place while using it. Be careful though, the point will definitely leave a hole in the wood/paper you use it on. It comes with a little plastic/silicone cap which I would suggest keeping to protect the point from damaging other things you own. (or vise-versa)It’s heavy and feels nice to hold/use. Solid metal.

This is an excellent compass and works well for geometry. It does take a light touch though, since it is metal and heavy in comparison to standard math compasses. I love it! I wanted a hefty one rather than a flimsy one like the others I have used and this is it! My son accidentally made a small hole in his math paper the first time he used it but after he got the hang of it, worked perfectly! He even enjoys geometry now because he likes using the compass. Definitely recommend. Good quality, nice price, and sturdy.

This tool is amazing. However I didn’t give it a 5-star rating because, although the lock system is sturdy, it’s not strong enough for some users, the pencil ends up falling off. Also… it rusts. I don’t know the exact material, but I guess try to spray some anti-rust on it.

Was looking for a sturdy compass for woodworking. Thrilled with this one, which is built like a truck! Each arm 1/4” solid steel tapering down to a precise tip. Plenty sharp enough to make a pilot hole in hardwood for drilling. Mechanical pencil is held firmly in holder so I can retract and extend lead while measuring/marking. Wing locks unit tightly with NO wiggle. Rivet joint was very stiff initially, but sprayed with garage door lube to loosen movement to my comfort level. If you like ‘overbuilt’ this is the one for you !

I love this compass! It’s well made and feels nice and solid in my hand. The compass holds it position well, no loose movement to mess up my work. My only complaint is the compass doesn’t come with a pencil. I only use mechanical pencils so I had to use a colored pencil until I could get to the store to purchase a regular pencil. Still a great bargain at this price!

I've tried 5 different compasses this week and most were basically garbage. I draw mandalas so I need an accurate, locking, sturdy compass. This one is made of carbon steel, has a universal holder for pens or pencils, and a significant point to keep it on the paper. It makes 1/2" to 22" circles with ease. It's the only compass for me!

This was exactly what I was looking for. I haven't used a compass since Junior High. This was much more solidly built than the one I had as a kid. Used int for a woodworking project. Pencil fits perfectly. I haven't tried the scribbing tool yet, but I'm sure it's good. It is surprisingly solid and heavy!

I had a hard time finding a compass that had good reviews and looked sturdy enough to use for woodworking. These looked promising, so I ordered them. They are exactly as described.When used for scribing, the points meet correctly for the zero radius and make a decent mark. The wing that locks the radius can be tightened enough to make the results reproducible. The compass has some heft to it, but the finish is not very bright, giving it a kind of rough dull feel. No finger prints to worry about. These are the positives.On the other hand, inserting a pencil, the point of the pencil will not meet the stable arm, limiting the smallest circle as the description says. The pencil is not well supported, so you should use a short one rather than a long one as pictured. I found the compass stiff when trying to expand it; so, small adjustments to the radius are a little tricky; but, it isn't bad.I would like the compass better if it had needles for the pivots, that way they would be sharper and replaceable if something happened to them.Overall, for the price, these are pretty good in a shop environment. For drafting, I'd choose something else.

Very heavy duty compared to what i thought would arrive. They are surviving living in the toolbox without any problems. Very happy with the product, well made, heavy, they work well. Perfect. I’m an electrician and use them on grid ceilings and marking lights on ceilings
