Language Lover
I just started studying a language in a classroom again after 10 years and I needed to make flashcards but my last experience of buying 3x5 cards and cutting them in half was a timely and sloppy process. This is a MUCH better option. I LOVE the size of these cards and I've used up about half the box in just two or three weeks, I'll be buying more of this product! Also a suggestion to others who purchace this item, I have punched a single hole in the cards and then put all the cards for a certain chapter on a single book ring to carry in my purse and study in spare moments. Yes the punching takes a little time, but it's worth it.

I used these cards years ago when learning my first foreign language and they are fantastic! They're easier to work with than most sizes of cards and the box they come in is perfect for storing and sorting your cards. I will admit that these days the cards are a little less thick than they used to be, but I still don't see my content through them. Now, studying a new language, these cards are again indispensable!

Vis Ed vocab cards
The printed French, German, Italian vocab cards are great for jogging your memory but are set at an intermediate level so I had to start making my own advanced level personalized vocab. I bought my first set of blanks from Amazon UK, under £10 including postage. Then I wanted more but had to get them from Amazon in the US where the cards are made. More expensive to have sent of course. I've bought three boxes of blanks now and although Vis Ed do say 'an average of' 1000 cards in every box, they do shortchange you a bit; typically 40-50 short. On the other hand you'll probably mess up more than that writing them out yourself. Its frustrating that they are so cheap to buy in the States (6$) and there's no equivalent anywhere else in Europe.Supplement May 2013I bought a couple more boxes at what I thought would be a total cost of £17 but got stung for import tax charges and an outrageous UK Royal Mail handling fee of £8. So, don't get robbed, try to make your purchase less than the £15 threshold set by UK Customs. Don't think it will be cheaper to buy two at a time. By the time the British mail put their hand in your pocket and rob you, you'll pay much more. In total there was an unexpected £11 extra to pay before Royal Mail would hand over my parcel. On top of this, Vis-Ed are shortchanging more than ever - from 40-50 short to consistently more than 100 less than stated on the lid. 10% less in every box is NOWHERE NEAR "approximately" 1000 as printed in small print on one side of the box. It is extremely misleading and disappointing. In the UK they would be charged under the Trades Descriptions Act.I now give Vis-Ed just one star for consistently short measures. However, I still urge Amazon to make these cards available to European customers directly through their distribution networks in Europe.

Perfect size; Paper is too thin, Have to use pencil
I really, really wanted to love this product. I used these exact flashcards 15 years ago for a class and I still have them. I homeschool my daughter and she needed to make some flashcards. I thought, "I have the perfect thing!" I grabbed some of the spare blank ones from my 15 year old set and immediately jumped on Amazon to order two more boxes. The older flashcards were of a decent thickness, you couldn't see through them unless you wrote with heavy marker.I opened the box of the new flashcards and was extremely disappointed at the thickness of these new cards. I handed one to my daughter and she was shocked at how thin they were. If I didn't have the older ones to compare to, it probably wouldn't have been as big of a surprise. I know some of the other reviewers mentioned them being thin, but I had the older ones so I thought maybe they were exaggerating. My daughter definitely has to use pencil on these and has to make sure she doesn't press too hard.As for size, they are the perfect size and fit comfortably in your hand. I also love the box, it's really sturdy and stores the flashcards well. I just wish these were a little thicker. I might buy these again because I love the size and the box, but I'm not sure these newer cards will hold up as long as the older ones I have.

I've learned to read several languages and flash cards provide a basic backbone to give you a start. I made my own cards for Dutch before I learned you could buy a box of these blank things. Every kid should learn half a dozen languages before they get out of high school. It gives them a jumping off place for an education. The humble Farmer, Maine philosopher, St. George, Maine

Easy to use and store
I love the size of these flash cards because they are very small and thus limit how much you expect yourself to memorize. I think this makes memorization more effective because you make two cards instead of jamming more information than necessary on one. I like the box, it is sturdy. I wish they came with dividers so you could put them in to split up subjects, I made some of my own. That is the only thing I could think to improve upon these. Such a great price.

LOVE THESE
These are the perfect size for vocabulary words. They help me a lot in Spanish and Astronomy class. I'll buy again when I run out, but there are so many in there, I haven't run out in two semesters - and that is NOT a bad thing. I usually punch a hole in them on one side and then use a metal ring to keep them all together. They're a great study tool.

Saves a lot of time not cutting flashcards!
My husband is learning his 5th language for his Ph. D. and these are wonderful! They are a little on the thin side but definetely not as thin as a regular sheet of paper as other reviews indicated. You can't beat the price for the time you save cutting 1000 flashcards. Everything is exactly as listed in the product description.
