Energy Conservation - Pipe insulation is very important for keeping heat in the pipes and ensuring that it is conveyed to its destination without excessive heat loss. Pipes may run through cold spaces such as garages and roof voids where you don't want heat loss into these spaces as this will make the heating system less efficient. There is also good reason to insulate heating pipes running through heated spaces to prevent overheating of rooms within properties. This way heat is delivered directly to the radiators with thermostatic controls in habitable rooms without excessive losses in circulation areas. In larger buildings secondary hot water circulation and heating pipes must be insulated to prevent overheating in corridors where pipes are often located as this greatly improves the efficient of the system especially where the hot water heating boiler may not be as efficient as the space heating boiler.Rule of thumb - the bigger the pipe diameter the thicker the insulation should be.Example pipe heat loss calculations22mm copper pipe are; no insulation=61 watts/ meter, 9mm insulation=11.3w/m, 13mm insulation=8.3w/m. So if you had 10 meters of flow and return pipes in a garage or roof space, you would be giving over 600 watts of heating to your garage/ loft of wasted energy.Frost Protection - Winter usage of pipe insulation is to protect pipes against frost damage.

Climaflex pipe insulation
This product is good. It does exactly what it’s designed to do, protect outside pipes from freezing in winter. However, be careful when ordering. Dimensions are provided, but the description does not tell you exactly what they refer to. Consequently, the item I bought was completely the wrong size. But as it only cost around £4, I could not be bothered to return it.I ended up buying the item I required from my local DIY shop, and it did not cost me £4. I paid 72p. Yes. Seventy two pence for a one metre length of Climaflex.

Very thin
Very thin and not rigid like the last ones I had this means they dont stay on the pipe well so found one on the floor don’t think they would be very good for a winter

Temporary Push chair, frame cover!!!
Might sound really strange, but brought this for my new granddaughters push chair. As it is really pretty, & my daughter does not want to scratch the paint work on the frame of it, when she has to open & close it, as the frame sits on the floor, while doing this.So ordered this, to cut two lengths off, to then slit them, so it can be put over the offending frame whilst putting it up & down. But taking off, whilst using the pushchair. So thanks for the prompt delivery, & this foam pipe covering works a treat!..And my daughter is so happy, as she will not have her lovely new pushchair frame work scratched.

Working well so far
I’m using this for a different purpose but impressed by ease of use. I’m using this outdoors so time will tell how it fairs against the elements. Maybe a bit expensive for what it is?
