I purchased 3 of these baskets last year for a noodle bar project I had been working on. I've since opened a noodle bar and served 1000's of bowls. We easily serve 400 bowls a week (small town noodle bar). Point being I've finally broke one of my baskets after serious usage. I'm now buying a few more and writing this review to let you all know these baskets are well worth the $14.Cons- They can be difficult to clean but we have found using a metal Brillo pad they do clean up but never all the way. Not a huge deal as they just get used again each day and get dirty again so a wire basket might not have this problem but the sheet metal offers pretty good strength.Pros- These guys stand on their own so if you need to set it in the sink for a second it's not a problem. The wood handles stay mostly cool to the touch so you won't get burned by hot metal (that metal band on the handle is easy enough to avoid). The hook on the end of the handle allow us to hang these baskets after the evening shift so they stay safe and out of the way.Again, I am very happy with these baskets.

Great for pasta, ravioli, shrimp, potatoes, beans. Boil a chicken carcass in it, no bones in the stock
I had no trouble using it with a medium sized pot. The straight handle is designed for a tall pot/cooker and the basket has a hanging hook so the cooked food can drain. The basket will take a full pound of pasta if the pot is deep enough - asparagus pot. Our pot isn't as deep so we can cook 1/2 pound of pasta at a time. We have cooked ravioli and shrimp in the basket - really nice to pull the basket out instead of having to use a slotted spoon. Doing a second 1/2 lb batch is easy since the water is already hot - just drain and dump the first batch, the second batch takes just the cooking time not the time to also boil the water. We also use it to cook potatoes - nice for cooking potatoes until they are really soft, you don't need to strain the water. Also good for cooking beans. We will make a stock in our KitchenAid multi-cooker, then cook beans, different batches of pasta for soups like mini rings, in the stock. Now we can have customized bowls of soup or chili. We cooked down a chicken carcass in our KitchenAid multi-cooker - the basket fit, diameter and height. I was able to position the handle at the pour spout and the lid notch allowed the lid to fit nicely. Great for cooking a chicken carcass for soup - no bones got into the liquid, the veggies went outside the basket so they didn't end up mixed in the meat/bones at the end. I use a tea/herb ball for the spices so they also don't get mixed in. KitchenAid KMC4244CA Multi-Cooker with Stir Tower - Candy Apple

This colander is extremely well made and effective. I expect to keep and use it fairly regularly for a long time. It's great for asian noodles that you can drop into a stock pot where other colanders can't fit.THat being said, this is fairly giant... be aware! The basket is probably a little smaller than a folgers can... a full six inches in diameter.I was surprised by the scale of the product but very pleased in how well it worked.

This is perfect for parboiling vegetables
This is perfect for parboiling vegetables (green beans, snow peas, broccoli, etc.), and for preparing rice noodles for Asian soups - pho bo, kao soi, tom yum noodle soup, etc.. The volume is large, so you are able to prepare portions for up to 6-8 servings. Solid, easy to clean, and (for what it is) compact.

Otherwise it is a nice concept.
I found it to be very large and awkward to hold. Otherwise it is a nice concept.

Love! Great product!!
Purchased this last week. I blanched and froze several batches of green beans with this basket. It made it so easy. I loved using it. The basket is good size and made very well. It even has a little hook to hook onto the side of the pot. I had no issue whatsoever with the blanching process. This basket helped make it nearly fool proof. This will be getting lots of use here while produce continues to roll in from the garden.

Handy kitchen tool. Multi-tasker
Perfect for pho noodles or blanching/boiling vegetables. It's a generous size - larger than I realized from the description. Very handy kitchen tool that I can see myself using frequently. Sturdy and well made. The bamboo insert on the handle helps keep it cool enough to touch.

It would be good if the noodles didn't escape through the holes in the bottom and sides. Useless for me.
