Works great in Celsius, loses setting when switched to Fahrenheit
I have owned and reviewed over a handful of car freezers, including Costway, Donmende, and Rockpals. Each had their pros and cons. This Linsion one looks different than all of them: it looks very modern and ready for space travel, but is it?PROS- Modern, clean design- Lightweight and "just the right size" for grocery shopping (my wife's own words)- One compartment for use as either freezer or fridge- Fast freezing-- After 30 minutes, compartment went from 78F to 43F-- After 60 minutes, it went down to 4F- 2 Energy modes: High and Eco-- High is useful when surrounding temperature is 86F+ (30C). Runs compressor at a higher speed-- Eco mode, although using less energy, can ruin the compressor in the long run-- "Power" LED: HH = Red. Eco = Green- Temperature was roughly consistent during 2 days of continuous use. It was set at -4F, and spot checking throughout the day resulted in between -2F and 0F (in High mode)-- Temperatures will fluctuate slightly more in Eco mode- Auto resume: When power supply is cut off and later restored, appliance continues operation- Two (2) Power options-- 12V or 24V car adapter (draws about 38W or 3.3A on 12V)-- 100-240V AC wall plug (cable NOT included despite what's in the pictures or manual). Description DOES say that the AC adapter is NOT included--- You can buy an AC to DC inverter (search for ASIN B072JS62N4 or B07G584S2X for my recommendations)- Low energy usage. (See TIPS section for calculating how long the car freezer could be used for on a battery power station)-- Linsion only uses power to reach or maintain set temperature. Once there, it goes idle-- 50W with AC port of the Goal Zero Yeti 500X (8W of that is used by Yeti's inverter). Manual states up to 40W draw-- 38W with 12V DC car port on the Goal Zero-- 1W – 2W on idle- Three (3) levels of Battery protection: High, Medium, Low-- Prevents the car battery from running down- Top opens sideways- Usable during off-roading-- Works at up to 30 degree angle tilt-- Anti-shake design keeps compressor protected- Sturdy carry grips on both ends- Can be used while the car is turned off, if its car port has a bypass to work directly off the battery-- Many SUVs, trucks, and minivans today have such output at the back. Refer to the car's owner manualCONS- There is an issue with the Linsion when switched to Fahrenheit display mode:-- After the freezer is turned off and back on, it switches back to Celsius. Furthermore, the Celsius temperature displayed does not match what is actually in the compartment inside--- It does not remember to stay in Fahrenheit-- Product shipped to display temperature in Celsius by default- No built-in LED to help see in the dark- Cannot secure Linsion to car with straps for heavier off-roading- Temperature is off by a few degrees, but I have not yet had a chance to contact the manufacturer how to change the Temperature Compensation values to make up for the variation-- Car freezers' detected vs actual temperature readings being off is normal and can be fixed with setting the Temperature Compensation values- Material appears to be made of hard ABS plastic. Although this makes the freezer LIGHT to carry around, it can also be more prone to damage if you dropped it- Like other car freezers in this price range, requires manual defrosting-- To defrost and remove excess ice, power off the unit and wipe dry, then power back on--- Do not allow a large amount of frost to build up on the inside of the walls as that will make cooling less efficient-- I was not immediately able to find any portable car freezers that have an automatic, self-defrost cycle that "cleans" the freezer from accumulating too much frost- No drain hole at the bottom to let excess or spilled liquid out-- You will have to use a towel to pick up leftover liquid, especially after defrosting- Manual describes the wire basket and AC adapter as being included, but the Amazon description does clearly state that they are not-- Wire basket is not available for purchase- No protective carry bag included- No overload protection with a replaceable fuse- Not waterproof. Keep it out of the rain- English instruction manual is very skimpy on detailsTIPS- When you receive your car freezer, do NOT plug it in until it has stood upright for at least 10 hours to allow the refrigerant to settle- Internal temperature is displayed on the LCD at power-on and updates periodically- Power off/on by holding the "POWER" button for a few seconds- There is no built-in battery-- Requires a power station, 12V/24V DC/car port, 120V/220V AC, or solar panel(s) capable of providing at least 60W of sustained powerSETTINGS"Set" button only cycles between Compressor Power, Battery Voltage Protection levels, and Celsius/Fahrenheit unit display.Compressor Power: Eco or Max. Default: Max- "Eco" uses less power (runs compressor at lower speed) than "Max" to minimize draw on any connected battery, but can ruin the compressor in the long run- "Max" runs compressor at full powerBattery Voltage Protection: Low, Medium, or High- "Low": Freezer will operate until the car battery reaches a Low level. You should avoid this setting as it could potentially leave you stranded with a car that will not start- Protection stops compressor when 12V battery reaches 10.3V (Low), 10.8V (Medium), 11.3V (High)-- Resumes at 11.1V (Low), 11.8V (Medium), 12.6V (High)RUNTIME WITH BATTERY POWER STATIONS- To calculate how long the car freezer could be used for with a battery power station depends on the battery's capacity (Wh) and how much power (W) the Linsion draws- Examples are with a Jackery Explorer 1000 (1002 Wh). Halve the time when used with a Goal Zero Yeti 500x (500Wh)-- Plugged into AC port: 1002 Wh x 0.85 / Device Wattage--- As short as 16.3 hours (1002 Wh x 0.85 / 52W). Longer when idle---- Informal testing found an estimated use of 500-670 Wh/day as a fridge. It was idle much of the time--- About 10-15% of power is lost during conversion from DC (battery) to AC, which is normal for all power stations-- Plugged into DC port: 1002 Wh / Device Wattage--- As short as 25 hours (1002 Wh / 40W). Longer when idleCOOLING EFFICIENCY- Linsion only uses power to reach or maintain the set temperature. Once there, it goes idle-- Time can be shorter or much longer, depending on how often the Linsion's compressor needs to be activated to reach or maintain target temperature- The colder the set temperature and/or the warmer the ambient (surrounding) heat, the more energy will be used-- Keep in a cool location and out of direct sunlight for best efficiency-- Consider putting the Linsion in an insulated bag for better cooling- Ensure adequate air flow (4"+) on all sides of the Linsion, especially where the fan is at- The more frozen/cold items are inside, the longer they can stay cool/frozen. Avoid opening the lid too often or for too longMAINTENANCE- Ensure lid seal is clean and unobstructed to keep cold air from escaping- Clean inside with a damp cloth every week-- Use sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) dissolved in lukewarm water to clean anything dirty-- Allow inside to dry before closing lid and putting away- Do not use detergent, soap, or abrasive/sharp products- Never clean under running water- Do NOT store the unit on its side. Always keep it upright to prevent damage to the compressorCONCLUSIONThe Linsion L-CR-03, although it looks modern, is very lightweight, and cools FAST, loses a star for not remembering the Fahrenheit setting. For the rest of the World, this is not a problem since it operates on Celsius anyway, but for the US market, some Americans may not like that. I used to be one of them since I have grown up with Fahrenheit, but after having reviewed the Rockpals car freezer who had an even nastier bug when switched to Fahrenheit, I have come to memorize the important Celsius values that matter the most:- Freezing temperature is 0C (32F)- Frozen food should be at -18C (0F) or below- Refrigerated food should be at between 0C – 5C (32F – 40F)Overall, a good car freezer when used in Celsius units.

An average product for 12v fridges.
I've used my fridge in my campervan for 18 months. 12 weeks of solid travel. The fridge has definitely gone down in performance. It definitely runs more often to maintain the temperature, which eats up more battery power. But from my research, unless you buy a top-of-line Engels, all of these fridges (even Dometics) run down pretty quickly. Even the mid-line fridges ($500+) are known to die in 1-3 years. So my new trick is to purchase big ziploc bags. I buy a big cup of ice from the gas station, double-bag it, and put it on the floor of the fridge. It has really helped the fridge, my food stays dry, and the ice lasts several days. I wish I had done this from the beginning! I'll keep my fridge until it stops cooling altogether, but for 18 months at $200, it's a fair deal.

Works well as a cooler, poor controls
ProsUnit cools down quickly, was able to get a measured temperature of -20° F (display read +16 F). Only used 18 amp hours at 32° F for 24 hours ( outside temp = 70F).ConsAC adapter is fairly expensive, $32 with shipping. Control panel is very touchy, settings are often lost when powered off. Defaults to Centigrade and will need to be changed each time the unit is powered up if degrees Fahrenheit are desired. The display temperature is way off, an example: unit set to 0° F, display read +7°, temperature measurement of -8° inside compartment. Not sure if my unit has a faulty controller, but I would be concerned about reliability, if this is used for anything valuable. If this cooler is only used for camping or car trips and is supervised, it should work well and not overly drain your battery.

After Four Weeks, would not recommend.
I have been without refrigeration on my boat for 4 years. I finally broke down and went shopping for small 12v refrigerator freezers. I decided I would rather have two with separate compressors than a single combo unit. This one has been great. I got it down to 13F in 85F ambient temperature. It draws 45wh per hour at 36F. I will probably get a second one to use as a freezer. This one doesn't have bluetooth, and the manual could be better, but operation is very simple. It was packed well and delivered upright. It also arrived a couple weeks early. It has a controller issue that makes it not great for long term use. When it has a power failure it seems to forget the temperature setpoint.

Great product, needs better quality control.
This freezer/fridge is perfect for what I needed (freezer in the truck). The only problem I have with it, is it did not come with the AC power adapter (they gave me a refund for that portion) and the part where the plug goes in broke immediately, so I had to rewire it correctly with a new connector. Other than that it is quiet, gets super cold, and doesn't use too much power for what it does. I love it

Need customer service number for product
Didn't work when it arrived... Back side of cooler plug in on inside was damaged after correcting the broken plug electrical connection it functions well

If u leave it on your boat or in ur vehicle keep the battery charging
Didn't like that when you unplug it to move you have to reprogram to your settings. For instance Celsius to Fahrenheit. If you want Fahrenheit readout it should be your default
