Busy Boats (Busy Books)

My child loves this book. The interactive features on each page are so engaging. The illustrations have many little details to discover and talk about on re-reading. The fishing page is clever and beautiful and an incredible use of the push-pull tab book format. The lighthouse page is absolutely a work of art and should be recognized as a very special example of children's illustration in this format.

If you are looking for one book in the series I would choose the railways one over this boats book. However the boats book is great. Working in the marine industry I wanted something fairly true to life so my son could learn about the different boats in the water. This really fits the bill. It's great that every person on a boat is wearing a life jacket and the real life situations like a small tug boat pulling a large container ship. My son (now 20 months but had the book since about 18months) loves to move all the different moving parts and makes his own little noises to go with it. I can point out all the different elements we are looking at. The only thing I would say is if you are vegan or don't agree with catching fish in nets this isn't the book for you. One page shows all the fish swimming into the net and the fishermen pulling the net up. There are also dead fish in seagulls mouths (this will lead to a conversation about the circle of life when my boy is a little older).

Bought this book as a birthday present for a boy who loves these. It's a well made tough book that will last a while even in a toddlers hands

My 2 year old son loves the whole range of the busy books and this was the latest in his collect.

The little one loves these books and has great fun playing with them. I enjoy reading them and spending good quality time with her over a book she gets much enjoyment from.
