What a genius product! Okay, I have a confession; I'm obsessed with my cast iron cookware, but, despite my best intentions, I did a really terrible thing. I used to wash my cast iron with... GASP! ...a wire grill brush! I know, I know, don't call the Cast Iron Protection Agency! I know what I did wrong! I've learned from my mistakes. After careful re-education and a re-seasoning of my pans, I've treated them with kid gloves, but, that's made cleaning them kind of a chore. Cleaning cast iron effectively without disrupting your carefully laid seasoning can be difficult, which is why the Skillet Skrunchie is amazing. I test-drove it the first night by making a buffalo burger on my 10" cast iron skillet, and, it not only performed beautifully, but it made the most bewitching ringing sound as I swirled it around the pan with ONLY hot water. Fats and gunk gone and the seasoning as glossy and black and perfect as before I started cooking! Then, tonight, I seared some chicken breast on my reversible griddle (before I tucked it into the oven for finishing), making it a point to use the raised grill side. I thought for sure cleaning between those grill-grooves would be a nightmare, but the Skillet Skrunchie eased right in there and knocked those carmelized chicken-fat globs free with minimal effort! I was really dreading that one, because the griddle is not as well-seasoned as my other pans, but the cleaning went as well as with my black-ice-smooth skillet. I can't recommend this product enough. If you love your cast iron pans, show them. Buy them the Skillet Skrunchie. They'll love you right back for it! (I won't even get into the tactile pleasure of cleaning with a chainmail scrubber - you'll just have to trust me that it's a delight!)

As other reviewers have commented, this item is outstanding and is a must have for any kitchen. Of course it excels at cleaning the bits off cast iron. But that is only the beginning. It is also outstanding for cleaning enameled cookware and glazed baking dishes. Obviously pay attention and don't use too much pressure. I previously used the soak and Scotch write pads with the sponge and scrubby sides. The scrubby side always got dunked up. Instead, use this item to take off the gunk and the scrubby to finish the work. VERY simple. I am buying one for friends as a housewarming gift! Cheap AND useful!!!

Excellent product, works as designed. I definitely would buy this again.The rings aren't welded shut (as somebody asked here), but they are closed tightly, have not lost or snagged any rings.Cleaning works well - I put some water in the hot cast iron pan (or reheat briefly) and swirl the skrunchie around in it. A tip - I use a wooden spoon or dish brush to push around the skrunchie around if it's too hot.Afterwards, rinse and wipe the pan dry with a paper towel. Done.Rinse the skrunchie or occasionally put it in the dishwasher in the knife holder.On a side note, the round chainmail looks pretty nice hanging from a hook. A visitor grabbed it and put it his head as a kipa (yarmulka) while I struggled between shock and laughter. It stayed on well, too *runs and hides*.

This is a wonderful idea! I use it to clean my antique cast iron pans and they haven't looked this good in years! Makes is very easy to clean without using soap that takes off the seasoning. Because the links can move around a lot, it seems like food just doesn't get caught it it like a sponge. The skrunchie is easy to clean - I just hook it over a couple of upper rack tines in my dishwasher and it's good to go. Love this!

The item I received looks nothing like what's depicted. The picture shows a round piece of mail woven around a center ring while what I got is rectangular with the hanging ring attached to one corner.Functionally I doubt there's any difference but it makes a world of difference aesthetically. I feel like I've been led astray, but it's not worth returning it.

Received my Skillet Scrunchie in the mail the other day and I could not wait to try it. After years of scrubbing and scouring my cast iron pans, I wondered, would this be a product that could make dish time easier? I was pleased by the appearence, although I must admit, I wondered how a metal scrunchie could actually help clean my pans. Man was I in for a treat! Not only is the Skillet Scrunchie good for cleaning cast iron, but it turns out, it is also great for cleaning my stainless steel pots, glass casserole dishes, and hard-anodized cookware. Wow!! Of course over the last few days, I have been using it on all my pots and pans, and I must say, it is amazing! The dreaded dish time has never been easier. I am so glad I made this purchase.Oh and it gets better, not only is the Skillet Scrunchie eco-friendly and can be used over and over (unlike a scrub brush or sponge), but my favorite part is that it is dishwasher safe. It doesn't get more awesome than that. If you are looking for a go-to product, that you can re-use for years, and that actually takes the "work" out of scrubbing your pots and pans, then this is the tool for you. I strongly recommend every kitchen having a Skillet Scrunchie.

Love this thing! Where has it been all my life!This is the first review I have ever done but felt I had to this time. It works so good and my pan's are working better. It really does clean without messing up the seasoning of the pan it actually is making them better seasoned than before! Really happy I bought one of these and I actually ordered another one for my ex wife for Christmas and she is in love Ruth it too!

WOW! I've always had issues cleaning my cast iron grill pans with food just getting stuck and me always ending up having to re-season. This totally saved my new pan and doesn't kill my existing seasoning in the process. It is as easy as they say to use it and it saves me tons of time/grieve from cleaning my cast-iron. I don't have a flat cast-iron skillet since I like nonstick pans for other cooking purposes aside from grilling, but if I ever get one, I'll update this review.
