M-D Building Products 69591 1-3/4-Inch by 36-Inch DB003 U-Shaped Door Bottom with Drip Cap, Brite-Dip Gold

This product was a perfect replacement for the old drip guard on our front door, both size and color. The seal was very tight for the 1st day, but the gasket quickly loosend up enough for the door to easily open and close, yet the seal is still very tight. My order was processed exactly as requested and arrived when promised. Very happy with this purchase!

The unit arrived in perfect condition and the instructions for trimming it to fit on the bottom of the door were straight forward and easy to fellow. Was able to install the wipe in about 45 minutes. Being a non-professional, even I was able to install the wipe and have it turn out looking nice.Recommend the M-D product line.

Drip cap works perfectly as described. My door is only 35 inches and the product cut very well with a hack saw. Fit the door perfectly and looks great.

The bottom of my door seems to be hollow (or maybe the bottom piece was just falling off exposing the inside... Don't know) so there were no groves for the normal weatherstrips to be applied. So I figured this would be a great solution. Figured I would just be able to "slip" it on. Well no sirie the thing is the exact size of the door width so once it's on I don't even think the screws are needed. It's a very tight fit. Also after putting on the metal gold / brass piece I tried to slip in the vinyl insert but at that point there was no room left for it at the bottom cause with the insert in and closing the door the threshold pushes it out. So now I have a brass thingy on my door with no vinyl insert on it. However it does seem to work. And not sure if I could even get it off even if I wanted to. Even without the vinyl insert at the bottom it does appear to be sealed. fortunately my front door is completely covered so there is no chance of rain coming through. I only got this thing so it would protect bugs from coming in. I shined a light on the opposite side of the door and you can't see it under the door. So I guess it's good. According to the other reviews maybe that's the way to do this anyways since apparently the weatherstrip deteriorates in just a couple of months. I had to saw off some of it to fit my door correctly. My door is 35 1/2 inches. I would say it does look good on it. The reason the rating is so low is because of difficulty of installation and the fact I couldn't even use the insert.

Product is pretty good, but could use some redesign. Make the edge facing outward deeper than 5/8 inch, and move the screwholes to the inside of the door, not the outside. My order came with only 4 screws, not the 5 needed.
