solid looking quality game with emphasis on education while looking fun and relevant
I haven't gotten any feedback on this from the people I gave it to.. I would normally not bother with a review, but I thought it looked promising enough that it was worth recommending (even sight unseen, but I at least has opportunity to really look at it eventually, just not play it through). I bought it as a christmas gift for a couple of young boys- ages 10-14ish. Not entirely sure. When I am selecting gifts I always buy games or books for kids, always looking for educational offerings.. and given the theme of this and how it is designed for education in mind.. I thought this one seemed right up their ally. I had read reviews, looked over the details of the game, and while it cost a little more than I would normally spend on a token gift for kids I don't know real well, I thought it was interesting enough sounding to me- and educationally interesting that it would be worth a bit of a splurge (hoping they liked it and benefited from it!). Math, imagination, intrigue, magic, economics, strategy, skill development.. all UNPLUGGED- no need for apps, electronics. Can play under kitchen table light, or by candlelight. *I* thought it sounded fun. I may have to pick up another game for my own use at home. I also liked the look of the box and the components. The colorful thick cards, bright potions in bottles on a rack, thick play currency.. It just didn't/doesn't look cheap. I was able to look over the materials, and it is a solid looking game. I just didn't have chance to actually play it. I really hope they liked it,and that the parents appreciated it. It seems like a game to hold on to, take care of and use time and time again. It is because I am considering purchasing again for future gift giving, and have recommended other people to check it out, and that I keep it book marked to come back to, that I am going ahead with a full 5 star rating. It looks good, has quality look and feel, has game play with both education and imagination in mind. Instructions are straightforward- not too awkward or frustrating. The marketplace reminds me of any of the online game play (especially mmos) but all without the need to be attached to electronics.

Fun game, easy to learn
Fun game easy to learn. We play lots of games with our grandkids who are teenagers. We enjoy this one. A little strategy is involved which you get better at the more you play it. We have played with 2 and 4 players.

Great game
Game is pretty good, family loves it and it gets a lot of play. Fairly easy to learn too. Needs more potion cards imo though.

Most impressive!
We LOVE this game! I admit it, I only got it because I was intrigued by the pretense of the potion bottle rack and wanted to experience the the quality of the materials firsthand especially for the price and wasn’t sure about the game mechanic. Turns out it’s super fun, easy to learn and teach, and quick to play! Great for playing on the coffee table after dinner since it takes up relatively little space. The art is great on the cards, the potion bottles are beautiful and satisfying to touch, the box is small and portable, and everything fits nicely inside with no trouble unpacking or loading it back up. Was totally surprised how much we loved it. For the price it is especially a great deal and has a lot of replay ability because of the random nature of the draw pile. We have only played two player and enjoyed it enough to play several times now. We game as a couple almost 100% of the time and find it’s decently balanced for two player l, but I think Mystic Market can also be an all around people pleaser for family and might be more fun and require more strategy with more players. I imagine it will appeal to those who game less frequently because of its approachability and those darn cute potion bottles. They have glitter inside by the way! Overall, a highly recommended lightweight “commodity speculation” game.

Cool set collection type game
My wife and I really like this game. I already own Harbor which is a shifting market but my wife really likes this over that because it is simpler. It does have some ‘take that’ elements to it and only one of the potions ‘plunder tonic’ is too overpowered so we play without it. Overall fun game although I have only played two player games. The card quality is okay. They feel a bit on the thin side but they work. All the symbols and the art work is very nice and easy to tell the difference in resources. The game track; which I feel is Purely just a gimmick does make it more fun that just set collecting. At it heart is is just a very simple set collection game. My one complaint is that the orange and yellow vile of sand look too similar. I feel like the creator was going for a nice cover the rainbow scheme. But I think instead of orange a black or white would be easier to discern between. Overall a great buy in my opinion.

Quick and fun game!
We bought this game on a whim (i.e. sale) and it turns out it's one of our favorite weeknight games. It's more fun than it has a right to be. There's a nice bit of "take that" built in, but not so much that it sucks the fun out of things when you're the one "taking that." You feel like you're building something as you collect sets, but you also have to stay on your toes because the market changes at a moment's notice and you need to be flexible if you don't want to fall behind. A nice bit of thinky-ness there, and also some strategy with crafting potions (when to and whether to). All the components are super well made and the art is nice too. I wouldn't have looked twice at this on a shelf in the store, but I'm glad I stumbled across it online because it really is a great little game.

This game is fantastic! It’s sort of like an intro to the stock market, my kid really enjoyed it! I love the maths involved and the production value is incredible!
