I cannot believe how beautiful the pictures in this book are
I cannot believe how beautiful the pictures in this book are.Two thinks I would like added to this book:- A bit of information about the species, if they are salt-water only, more on life cycle and at least an evolutionary tree listing the species mentioned in the book.- A better glossary. For example about 5 species mentioned bioluminece in their info, but not mentioned in the glossary under bioluminece.Even after asking for thing or two, I still have to rate it as 5 stars as it is a wonderful read.

Breathtakingly beautify photography
For anyone learning the identification of marine zooplankton, this is one of the best photographic references, along with Ocean Drifters, I have found. While no single reference has a chance to familiarize with all 200,000+ known species, this, supported with the line drawings in A Guide to Marine Coastal Plankton and Marine Invertebrate Larvae and Zooplankton of the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts provides a way to begin to organize these animals.

Fascinationg Book
I've always been fascinated by the diversity and beauty of zooplankton and phytoplankton. The color photos in the book are outstanding. Wish this had been available in those old 1970 Marine Biology classes! A wonderful introduction to planktonic life and surely will peak the interest for future marine biologists.

MUST-READ!
This book is amazing. The text is informative and the photos are out of this world. These books can be pricey, but this is 100% worth the investment. It will change the way you look at planktons and give you a new respect for the microscopic world.

Great gift. Stunning photography. A must-have for ocean lovers.
Beautiful photography and fascinating reading. I highly recommend this as a gift for people who like coffee-table books. I was completely mesmerized while reading it and studying the pictures. Wish I could bring myself to tear a few of the photos out and frame them! A very worthwhile book and a very important subject for people to know about.

Mainly for the pictures
There is some really good photography in here, and some interesting factoids too. I did find the factoids a bit lightweight though - frustratingly it seemed as if just a couple more sentences on each page could have filled in the gaps. At least it will inspire you to fill in the gaps yourself. For example, there are photos of all sorts of strange prokaryotes, algae and animals, but there is also, near the front of the book, the suggestion that fungi is found in the plankton. I'm left wondering (because I'm no expert) is this talking about the vast open ocean? or is it only in small freshwater ponds? I've never heard of fungi in the plankton before so it seemed interesting, and just a single sentence more could have given a basic level of information, enough for me anyway.

A book of beauty
This book sits permanently on the front room table. The images are spectacular, and the layout easy to take in. The explanations are as clear as some of the fascinating creatures that are so important. I simply never knew the variety out there and this book presents them in all their magical glory.
