Tight fit for expanded US passport, but un-needed
I got this for an expanded (48-page) US passport. It's a pretty tight fit to get it in, it will fit but takes an extra few seconds to wiggle it in.I decided to test out how it works. I tried reading the passport RFID while it was in the protector, and was unable to! Great news right? So I tried reading the passport while it was outside of this protector and the RFID scanner still didn't pick anything up. I opened up the passport, and the scanner read it fine.I did some further testing outside of the protector, and determined that the passport needs to be open about an inch for me to get consistent readings. I was able to get some readings when the cover was opened as little as half an inch. As long as the passport was closed I was never able to get a reading from it along or inside the sleeve.I tested the product with some RFIDs that are presumably about the same as the one inside the passport, and it did seem to do a pretty good job at blocking them (although my pouch is now stretched out from my extended passport). So the product seems to work, however it's a little bit misleading as the U.S. passport cover has a built in RFID shield that requires it to be opened to read. That being said, I'm going to still use it because it keeps my passport closed so it can't come open enough to be read unless I remove it.I'm giving this 4/5 stars because it seems to work well, however is a little misleading in that they don't mention that the passport has a built in RFID shield.

It's a paper sleeve- not intended for multipe insertions
It works for it's intended purpose, but if you're a frequent traveller it won't hold up for multiple trips. For those familiar with enhanced drivers licenses, it's made out of the same material those come in.It also doesn't work well with traditional passport cases or covers. Since you have to place the entire passport into the sleeve, you also have to put the sleeve in one of the pockets of the traditional passport case. It's a tight fit, and if you're a frequent traveller with extra visa pages it doesn't really fit into the passport case. Ideally the protector would be able to cover just the portion of the passport that contains the RFID, ie horizontally or along the side, which would allow you to still use a traditional cover the same way you do today. Unfortunately, this opens at top intended to fit the entire passport into the sleeve. If you don't already have a cover or case this will work fine for a few trips, otherwise recommend just getting a RFID passport case that you can also keep credit cards and other identification. Does OK
I haven't evaluated this in any technical way - it appears to have an RF shielding material in it and it makes claims about meeting standards, but I don't have a good method to test them (I see lots of people testing these things by putting ID cards in them and then waving them across readers, which is probably not a relevant test). However - I can slide my passport in it and put it in my pocket, and feel good about it. The sleeve protected my passport from getting sweaty and dog-eared, and made me feel like I was doing something to prevent random identity theft (if that's something that actually happens). If you travel a lot, get a few because it will definitely not outlast your passport. But for the money, it's nice.

Convenient for short term use
It was large enough to hold a passport and a credit card. My wife carried it in the hidden pocket of her Tilley Endurable pants (which we highly recommend). The envelope is made of a thin "Tyvec"-like material that frayed somewhat with little use over a two week trip. I suspect it has no long-term or heavy-use durability. I have not tested this holder for its electronic protection.

not sure if they work, but proving otherwise means ...
not sure if they work, but proving otherwise means I've lost my identity soooooo...... :) why take the chance in this day and age of identity theft. Now if they could just make something which sends out 30 thousand volts to anyone trying to buzz your wallet... then you'd know it works by the pile of ash :).... just a thought

Product exactly as expected.
Reading other reviews help me choose this product. I am pleased with them but agree that after a lot of use they will tear. What I really like is that the product covers our passports perfectly, they are light & fit in our waist belts perfectly, so it is flat & comfortable to wear. That was most important & we got what we wanted.

Protection of Passports
The item fits rather snugly the first few times the passport is placed inside or removed, but quickly loosens up afterwards. Good for a ten day trip, but much more time and it would tear and fall apart. It did it's job, as I had to remove it for the transportation staff to scan the RFID; otherwise it was blocked.

Don't Leave Home Without RFID Protection
As advertised and these days RFID is essential. Not too pricey. I wear these out, and the passport does not fit into my wallet compartment if the protector is in place. I knew both before buying and I bought several. My husband has used the same one for over a year. He doesn't wear out his protector because he uses a larger travel document "wallet". I'd recommend both the Passport Protector and document wallet. Also I use credit card RFID protectors.
