Get the RIGHT Gasket !!
This O-ring type thermostat gasket fits perfectly on the original Toyota thermostat -- and also fits the Motorad #302-180 High-Flow thermostat when installed in the Toyota-Lexus 4.7-liter engine. The O-ring gasket has a center groove that allows the gasket to be fitted around the edge of the thermostat, thereby making a positive seal and allowing the thermostat to function as intended. I used the Toyota O-ring and Motorad thermostat to replace the original parts after 235,000 miles. The Motorad # 302-180 opens at 180 degrees F., which is the operating temp specified by Toyota.

Factory part, quality product.
The phrase “buy once, cry once”. Whenever possible go with the factory part. Toyota quality and price out ways the cheap aftermarket products. This thermostat ring is worth the extra $3 over a different one.

It works and does not leak.
The gasket comes in a clear bag you don't normally comes in when you order direct from the dealer. Unsure if it's a real or generic gasket. But I took my risk since I needed one to finish a timing belt job on a 2003 Toyota 4-Runner with a V8 engine. Took the old one off and popped in the new one. Finished the timing belt job and no leaks. So that's all it matters.

Fit on my 2006 Tundra
Fit on my 2006 Tundra when my thermostat failed. I keep a couple of these as I have two high mileage Toyotas that use them. Cheap insurance policy if you get in a jam.

You need to buy this in conjunction with the thermostat
You need to buy this in conduction with the thermostat. This claims to be a Toyota OEM, and it certainly fits like it does. Why they don't combo the gasket with the thermostat is an utter disrespect to the customer, but it's a great way to nickel and dime us...especially when this costs what it does. But you need it---so buy it.
