What is Activated Charcoal? Activated charcoal isn't the same thing as charcoal produced by a fire. After regular charcoal is made it's powdered and put through additional superheating. This creates small particles of nearly pure carbon that have an incredibly high surface area. One tablespoon of activated charcoal has the surface area equivalent to a football field. This large surface area is what allows the activated charcoal to have such incredible absorptive capabilities. Activated Charcoal is used in water filters to remove microscopic particles, and in emergencies to mop up drugs in the digestive tract to stop overdoses. How Much Should I Take? We recommend taking 1 capsule as needed or per advice from your health professional. Each bottle contains 90 vegetarian capsules.
